I’ve noticed my Russian tort keeps making a sneezing noise when I soak him, and he keeps moving like he wants to get out. The water is pretty shallow and warm, so is there anything I should be worried about?
Hello, is anyone able to identify these plants and tell if it is safe to feed my Russian tort? I checked online plant IDs and couldn't seem to find anything that matched enough.
Additional questions about a Russian tortoise enclosure:
I know the size should be about 4x8 ft, but I'm having a hard time finding a suitable indoors that will fit it. I might try to place it outside full-time, but my location is sometimes prone to sudden thunderstorms or heavy rain during the...
I think he may be a sub-adult or adult at this point... we've had him for a while, but he wasn't a baby when we first got him. I might still get a covering though, since it seems that the current enclosure loses humidity easily. Can I ask what the blue thing is in the enclosure in the last photo?
I've been trying to get a new enclosure for my Russian tortoise, and when reading the care sheets/guides, it seems like there's some contradicting advice. I don't know if I need a covering for the new enclosure(the old one does not), some sources say it's beneficial, while I've seen others say...
Update: After reading more info on the care page, I think I'm going to have to make some changes to my tortoise's habitat. I might have to get a larger enclosure overall as well as a different heat/HVB source... and probably change the substrate too.
EDIT: Scratch what I said about the mercury vapor lamp, I read the wrong package. We're currently using an incandescent screw-in bulb with the ceramic heat lamp.

We feed her mostly kale, we've tried to give her other greens like romaine lettuce and spinach, but she never seemed to like them.
I sprinkle calcium on her food regularly.
We occasionally take her outside in the yard to walk around(with supervision).
We use an incandescent bulb for UVB exposure...
We got her from a pet store, but she definitely was not a baby when we got her.
We are currently using a mercury vapor lamp that I believe is a screw-in(although I guess we might need to change that).
I'm not sure if this could be a sign that my Russian tortoise has MBD, but she doesn't seem to have any other symptoms other than this. She is very active, has had no loss of appetite, no signs of pyramiding(that I can see), and both her poop and urine/urates are normal. Is there something...
I have had my Russian tortoise for a few years now, and for a while her shell has been curling upwards at the ends. I read that this is probably a symptom of MBD, but her shell is not soft and does not show any sign of pyramiding, she is very active and moves very fast, and has not had any loss...
