I soak mine regularly, esp since they are redfoot. In addition, I set up a misting system on a timer in their enclosure. I think they like it- they come out when it’s spraying to walk through it and hunt for possible worms! Haha
Yeah. I knew it in my brain. My heart just felt bad for the guy. I don’t know what sex mine are- waiting to increase my creep until I know for sure. Will be years from now. Thanks!
Much appreciated! We busted our butts building this enclosure. It was a lot of work, but seems to be holding up.

I am considering adopting a male red foot who has had his penis surgically removed after a neglected prolapse. Does anyone know if that lessens male aggresion around other males? Do they still express a constant need to mate?
Google keeps telling me it’s a German cockroach, but it’s not… has no wings and is smaller. I thought maybe spring tail, but it seems big (largest I saw was 4 or 5 mm) and doesn’t match any pics I see online. Thanks for response. Frustrating
I am building a large indoor enclosure for winter months, and will need to have a greenhouse topper. We plan to build a custom PVC pipe topper frame, but my big question is what is the best material to buy to make the actual cover? I plan to sew it to fit our PVC frame, but would like something...
Will do. I will place it closer to the basking area too. Thank you! Some dryness is actually an easier fix for me then calcium deposits, so that’s a relief. Building a new tort table with a greenhouse topper. That should also help.
I use inkbird- also controls the fogger. Set to go off lower than 70% humidity. I have 3-4 inches of substrate that I wet down and flip weekly. Top is 65% covered. Also spray enclosure daily and soak the torts daily. Hard to imagine they are dehydrated. They do like to chill under the heat lamp...
