I really appreciate you taking the time to respond. Thats some awesome info an very helpful! I'm going to message you so I don't offend anyone with the graphic / detailed response.
The top pic I posted is her. The bottom is him.. ya she can be quite a bully, she throws her size and weight around. They're chill together for the most part but I think you're right I think I should just remove him. I don't want to stress either. She's fine it's him that I'd be worried abt. I...
I've seen his "male genital" so whether hes male or not isnt in question for me, i alr know.. I'm trying to figure out why he's not interested in her. It's just her.
100%.. hes been "excited" for lack of a better word.. & i saw his alien looking male part. The difference between the 2 is his tail is abt 2inches long, it curls all the way around to his back leg. & her, she's much larger than him but her tail is abt a half inch. She has a tiny short little...
Sheldon, is 5 year old russian tort, roughly 6inches from top carapace near his head to the bottom where his tail is. His mate Shelby, is is the same age but much much bigger, twice his size. I got them together a little over 4 yrs ago as a "pair" .. year after year he shows absolutely no...
Beautiful. I hope he/she isn't in pain though, That's a pretty severe case. Their spine runs along the middle of the shell and becomes deformed with the shell as it pyramids and causes the animal pain. A few things can cause pyramiding, (this site has great info) but its usually insufficient...
That's what I thought too. An yes they are quite a bit larger than her eggs from last year. She really struggled this time. Huffing an puffing, squeeking, straining, grunting went on all day til she finally got the first one out last night. The second was about 30 mins later
Do you think it's normal to lay eggs 2 days apart?? She layed those 2 on the 12th than I saw her lay 2 more last night.. isnt there supposed to be at least 3 weeks between clutches? I separated the male on the 12th when she layed the first 2 I don't plan on putting him.back in there with her...
I'm not an expert on the subject but I do have a female hermann & a female Russian (horsefield) & they both dig several holes over a week or 2 maybe longer before actually trying to lay any eggs. You're on the right track with offering a different substrates. What worked best for me in the past...
She actually dug many holes. Like I said the only reason I even knew what was going on was her coming to me lightly biting at my toes which she never does. That's when I heard her straining and grunting. I think she was impacted or something and the soak allowed her to get it out.. I feel better...
Yes indoors & yes she initially had about 6 inches of substrate in her enclosure but when I noticed her digging with her back legs & "nesting" I added an area on one side with about 12inches of substrate so she could go nuts.. she is about 8 inches.
