Tom, what are you talking about, 110* days... They don't get those in So Cal!!! Gimme a break!!! Bwahahahaha!! Ugh. This mild winter has me DREADING this coming Summer.. Dear Lawd!! Help us all!!!
Hi, Tom!! Long time!!
So, based on your experience @ 100 g. They are past the infant caution zone??? In theory, maybe some of us can relax a little on the twice daily soakings, maybe cut it back to once a day a couple of times a week??? Maybe utilizing this time to, I dunno, shave ones...
I was told to do this; do a baby food carrot soak, Dean said its like a multivitamin.. Can't hurt, might help, I would imagine dumping a jar into a bowl, warming it gently for 15-20 secs will warm it enough for your tort (obviously, temp check it)...
Good luck..
SOMEBODY in your neighborhood MUST have one growing. Ask nicely for some pads, and get some growing. Just stick a pad halfway buried in a pot and stand back....
I did notice a neighbor had a large prickly pear leaving the neighborhood...??
So, here are more carpace pics... They've got areas of white/gray at he seams and they both have what looks like, peeling going on...? Do you see it? Is it from growth??
My rule about being outside is simple if Sir Charles (my 2 year old little boy) can't be outside, neither can the torts. Period. It's been partly cloudy and the damn wind might as well be blowing in from the Antarctic.. Seriously, cold.. And I'm originally from the Midwest, so I'm no wuss...
I ordered a 10.0 ReptiGlo bulb and CHE from amazon (time to upgrade my heat anyway)....
Dean - thanks for the link.. The cactus I found on EBay (not from that seller) was $20 for 2 lbs, which I thought was excessive.... Will probably order from her later today (great time to be ordering this...
Just to confirm.. They can't really be cold... Right? because the high tomorrow looks to be around 66* with a low of 39* (Jesus H!!) And there is no humidity in the desert, so 66 might as well be 32...
I'll have to research this.. It really has been terribly cold.. I had to cover up my rose bushes and I'm pretty certain I've lost two torch glow bouganvillas and two pentas... but everything else seems to be ok so far... I'll have to check up against the far wall fence.. Im thinking that will at...
We will see how they do tomorrow.. Last time I left them out and it hit 65* and they were both hiding in the black planter I keep out there for shelter and they felt cold then I got paranoid about them getting sick... And no store bought greens here, I do a seed mix from sulcatafood.com...
They get calcium and d3 three to four times a week... Exclusively eat seed grown in organic soil... And it's been too cold to get them outside... I guess we will be ordering a bulb...[hr]
They have literally been in the house exclusively for the past 2 weeks.. Before that they were outside...
Normal?? The back of their carapace was not concaved two weeks ago... There has been no trauma, no problems, I'm sure it didn't happen suddenly...
What do y'all think?
