What are your temperatures in different areas than? For some reason, I was thinking it had to be the same everywhere in every single spot in the enclosure.
I have a similar set up, less nice of course..I have to CHE in there, but the temperature is all over the place. 102 in one area, 85 in another, 78 in the hide, etc... is that normal?
Rio´s enclosure is now twice as big BUT I cannot get the humidity up.
It is only around 40%, I put water in the corners to help but nothing.
Temperatures are around 80-90F depending on where in the enclosure.
2 CHEs, the same UVB bulb (turns on from 11-1), and an additional regular bulb for...
Rio relaxing...
yes, he has lots of pyramiding going on. We got him with MBD (diagnosed by a vet) around 1 or 2 years ago.
He weighed 100g when we got him, he is now up to 750g :-)
Got it, still a work in progress :)
Will figure out how to extend it in the very near future.
I just turned on the new UVB Lighting..that is BRIGHT.
He definitely needs more shade...
Understood, he is less than 5inch though and weighs only 260g.
I don't think he is anywhere close to what he really should be at 5 years of age at the moment?
Based on that, do you still think this is too small for now?
Rio, a cherry head red foot, just moved into his new house over the weekend.
The enclosure is 4x2.
There is a CHE for heat which is on a thermostat to ensure no less than 80F at all times.
The temperature has been 80-86F at all times so far.
The humidity on one end has been around 83%, on the...
Over what time frame did this change? I took in a red foot that has severe MBD and I am wondering if he/she can ever really get "better", especially when it comes to how his shell looks. Will they grow to their "normal" size, you think?
Hello,
its not a "cage cage" per se, pictures attached.
I have a MVB UVB light (reptisun) and a CHE.
The hottest area it says 96-100F (right under the MVB and CHE), coolest is 80F, humidity around 60%.
Although its that hot, he keeps going under the MVB and lay in the heat.
MBD was diagnosed...
Kind of just want to document Rio´s health in a journal kind of way and also see if anyone has input/suggestions in general.
We got Rio July 4th weekend. He is supposed to be 5 years old. He was not in great shape when we got him and the vet was worried he wouldn't make it.

There is actually a shed right behind it, and a huge tree off to the side and another shrub in front of it. so there is more shade than the picture shows.
However, I will be adding more plants to it as I go along, especially Hosta. We have a bunch I can split up.
