The babies have finally started hatching (3 are out now, 2 left - out of the 9 or so, most seems to have been empty, they became brown, or I might have messed up somewhere during incubation?), they are cute as can be! However, now I have a problem, there are no resources on how to take care of...
I want to get a permit for my pets, however my greatest fear is that they take them away from me (after owning them for almost years, I have grown very attached) or they deny me the permit... Is this fear rational or am I over reacting? Anyone here with good or bad stories trying to get permits...
It has been a while hey? Last post was in March! Well, I think it's time I gave a status update on my lizard! So she seems to be happy and healthy now! Shes very calm while being handled (thanks to daily handling no doubt!), very active during the day and eats very well, so far she's doing...
Hello! So as a lot of you probably know, I live in South Africa, and I want to move to a different country, I did read a thread saying it is difficult (https://tortoiseforum.org/threads/moving-to-another-country-with-your-tortoise.185947/) and better to just get a new tortoise, but I would like...
There are so many different opinions online of what UVB to get, it's rather overwhelming... I have a baby padloper tortoise (and a agma atra lizard, think of this as a smaller version of a bearded dragon if you don't know about it), what would be the best UVB to get them?
I am now moving off of...
Finally, after weeks of postponing it, we finally built it... The people who cut the glass got some of the measurements a little wrong, but it did not really affect the end result too much...
We haven't yet installed the heat lamp and the UVB bulb, my dad will be building another contraption...
So, some of you may know that I recently got a new lizard, and that it has been eating really (2-4 dubias a day, 4-6 mealworms) well up until recently, where it just stopped eating, barely eating 1 mealworm a day. We did call multiple vets, all of them are full and one still needs to get back to...
I got an Agma Atra (AKA. Bloukop Koggelmander) a few weeks ago, and it was surprisingly easy to get it to eat and calm down, it even started taking the food out of the feeding tongs, but recently it stopped eating, it usually ate about 2 small-medium sized dubia roaches and 4 mealworms/day, but...
Now please note that I do not plan on doing this, but I would like to know if they would respond to it, since I find it funny to think about...
Now let's say my bearded dragon is bobbing their head to show superiority, what if I started bobbing my head, would they respond to it, or would they...
Hello :D I come with a new update from this post, where asked if a bearded dragon baby and a baby tortoise can live together, (no, they cannot -> conclusion), anyhow, I wanted to give an update on that post and the "beardy"...
First, we did split them up (asap in fact, because I'd rather have...
So my dad out of the blue brought home a baby (I think) Central Beaded Dragon, the dragon was then dropped into my baby Padloper tortoises' enclosure, with about 6 very small crickets :/... Unfortunately the planned bigger enclosure for my tortoise won't here until at least Saturday, so they...
Hello :)
I have a baby padloper tortoise, and currently I'm living in South Africa. It turns out that it is illegal to keep tortoises as pets in SA (and most people who own them doesn't even know!). Google isn't really helping much, maybe I'm just searching with the wrong terms or something...
Hello everyone! :)
About a year ago my dad came home with 4 tortoises, 3 Sulcatas and 1 (baby) Homopus Areolatus (Padloper). The Padloper fell into my care a few months after that day. I finally got a job, so it was about time I started focusing hard on helping the little bugger not only...
About a year ago, my dad came home with 4 tortoises he bought from a friend, 3 of them were common tortoises you can find in a pet store in South Africa without too much trouble, the smallest one however looked different and landed in my care... I'm unsure of what tortoise this is, but it would...
