Okay, thanks. That's pretty much what I expected but was hoping there was something else someone has done, like maybe a lampshade or something. They are not hatchlings, they are already a good size. with one being pretty much full grown.

Hello all, I'm setting up my tortoise table and was wondering if the heat lamp will get hot on the outside (obviously I've never had one before).
If so, are there any that won't? I've got a couple of toddlers running around and don't want them to get burned on accident.
Hello Cheryl, thanks for the response but I can't find any care sheets that are recommending a 4'x8' enclosure as the minimum for Egyptian Tortoises. Also, pretty much all of them also say that they can live together. Can you please post a link to the care sheet you are referring to?
