    Sulcata shell

I'd also like to chime in that a calcium supplement might do your little tort some good! And make sure you regularly soak your little guy in water. I'm planning on trying the cypress mulch next time we change our substrate! Right now we are using organic soil, which has worked pretty well but...

    Poop

Silver poop? That sounds scary. I feed my sulcata mostly grasses, weeds, clovers and grape leaves. Very occasionally grocery store lettuces. His poop is dark brown/green and long and not too soft. Looks kind of grassy even.[hr] Ha Ha! Grass cigars! That's a perfect explanation.

    Another sulcata?

Wow, Queenie is tiny! How cute she is! She's only 1 inch larger than Kenya. I measured him a few days ago. Do you keep her indoors at night? Did you get her from Danny?

    My tortoise chuck.

Ahh, he's a cutie! Yeah, he looks pretty hardy. We got ours very tiny and the first 4 months were scary. Almost like taking care of a newborn. Plus tortoise care was all new to me, so that probably made it a little harder. Is he your only tortoise?

    Another sulcata?

Wow! Ok, I got it. I was just wondering. I thought some types could be kept as pairs peacefully. It seems like I had seen other people with pairs. I would still like another tort at some point. I had been looking at the other species groups yesterday, trying to figure out what kind might...

    Another sulcata?

Well, we have a large yard, but now that I think about it, probably not large enough for two full grown sulcatas. We have a serpentarium by our house that is really cool. They have a bunch of babies that I just fell in love with the other day! Some of them had abnormal shell patterns that were...

    Another sulcata?

Hey everyone! I don't think I have posted on here in quite a while, even though I come and read what's going on. I am kind of thinking about getting another tortoise. I have just found Kenya to be such a great pet. Easy to take care of, quite, cute and fun! We have really fallen in love with...

    size for living outside?

Oh, yeah, I still think he's way too little. Just trying to plan for the future.

    how tall should sides be?

Maggie, do you think I should make it taller than 12 inches? Maybe 18?

    how tall should sides be?

Thanks! Hopefully he doesn't grow too fast. :P

    size for living outside?

Thanks for the responses! Mostly we deal with cats, and I'm never sure about leaving Kenya outside unsupervised at this time since he is still sooo small. I'm assuming that once they get bigger the cats are afraid of them? Oh, and thanks for the pictures! Yvonne, I didn't know little...

    how tall should sides be?

I think I may not have been clear. :P This is an indoor enclosure I am building. I am hoping it lasts until my sulcata is large enough to live outdoors 24/7. My tort does get to go outside, especially on sunny days, but I am asking advice about building a larger indoor enclosure. Sorry if I...

    size for living outside?

How big should a sulcata be when it can be allowed to live outside in a pen with a heated shed? We are trying to build a larger enclosure for Kenya and want it to last till he can live outside. The problem is I don't know how large he will be at that point. Inches? Pounds? Thanks! :D

    how tall should sides be?

The tort is only like 3.5 inches long right now..... and I'm hoping this will last him until he can be outside (and I'm not exactly sure how big they have to be when they can stay outside). Right now he has about 2 inches of substrate, will that always be enough? I'm guessing not.... This is...

    how tall should sides be?

We are planning on building a larger enclosure for our sulcata, hopefully to last him until he can live outside. He's about a year old now. We are planning on making it 6 ft 3 in by 3 ft 3 in. The only question I have is how tall should the sides be? I'm not exactly sure how big he will be...

    Peeling on Shell?

I'll try a little more moisture..... His substrate is already moist for most of the day and night. Not sure how much more i could add. Around 60 % humidity a foot above his enclosure. So is it just kind of random? I hope it doesn't get worse.

    Peeling on Shell?

Wow, Danny you are amazing! You can see all that in the picture? You must really know what to look for! So how do I stop this from happening anymore?

    Peeling on Shell?

Ok, I will do my best. The humidity is usually really high in his enclosure so it might not be that.[hr] This is the only one that would fit onto the post. I have a few more if you want me to e-mail them to you. I have the hardest time getting pictures on this site!

    Peeling on Shell?

What is the cause of what you are explaining?

    Peeling on Shell?

Hmmm, I don't know..... maybe they are like really tiny tears? They are not very big.... What causes this to happen?
