Night temperature for 2 year old Sulcata

My Sulcata was 2 in June. He has been outside all summer in his grass run where temps have reached 40 some days. Now the temps are more civilised and down to 30 during the day . What I would like to know is, what are the lowest night temperatures I can leave him outside. We have no rain. I...

    Won't eat grass

OK Tom, thanks. Basically what I'm doing really. The grass is new, young grass as I cut it once a week. It is cut small with chopping but he still manages to pick out what h wants leaving grass. Do you know if tortoises can eat Hibiscus moscheutos and Hibiscus coccinea ?

    Won't eat grass

My Sulcata is now 14 months old. He spends most of the day, from 11am til 6pm in an outside pen. At night he's in his closed chamber. When I first put him outside, he more or less stopped eating with the change of surroundings and it was several weeks before he'd eat any amount of food again...

    Young Sulcata

Great ! That's what I wanted to know Tom, thank you. His new run is growing grass nicely and a heated night box is no problem. I'm sure he'll be happier as the weather is warming up nicely now here in Spain.

    Young Sulcata

His outdoor run is covered with a mesh frame . Predators are rats and foxes so he will have a safe box to sleep in at night, in the wam weather. There is a shade end. I just wanted to know if he's old enough and big enough to spend time outdoors without the high level of humidity he has now,

    hatchlings growing OK?

My youngsters are now 3 months old and weigh over 3 ounces. Is this a good rate of growth? They eat a variety of weeds as well as hibiscus and grape leaves and other garden delights. They're not very friendly though and will stop eating when I go and look at them ! The feisty one will actually...

    Hatchling with internal parasites

Thanks EllieMay. They haven't stopped eating and don't have diarrea so hopefully in time to prevent any major symptoms. The vet gave me a prescription to take to my pharmacy to have made up as the regular capsules of the medicine, Paromomicina, are too big a dose for the hatchlings. They are...

    Hatchling with internal parasites

My two sulcata hatchlings are now two and a half months old now. They have been eating well and growing strongly. A few days ago I noticed the water in their drinking dish had a pinkish tinge to it. Concerned they may have internal parasites of some description, I took them along to the...

    Hatchlings

I give them grass every day but they ignore it. They'd ignore all the other types of leaves as well until I added a tiny bit of chopped lettuce to them. That way they eat really well now. I shall keep trying with the grass. They'd already eaten when I took the photo and I placed them both in...

    New additions

I'm in the south of Spain and winter is when the weeds grow here !! June, July and August are drought months and once September comes the temps drop, rains hopefully come and everything starts to grow again. Where I am, there is no frost so now is the worst time of year for food but still have...

    New additions

OK, thanks for your advice. I have tried them with a little soaked Mazuri which they nibbled on. It's high summer here with temps around 40 degrees so no weeds growing. so am trying them with mulberry leaves and grape leaves, petunias and hibiscus flowers and leaves as well as supermarket salad...

    New additions

Yes, the breeder marked it for ID when taking the photos for the cites certificate. I bought two in case I lost one! They do function independently of each other so I'm not concerned at the moment. If they both do OK in my care then I will separate them.

    New additions

I already have a Leopard but couldn't resist buying these Sulcata hatchlings They are almost a month old and when bought 10 days ago they weighed 59 and 57 gms and today weighed in at 65 and 62 gms. One is kinday feisty, just wants to run away from me but the other one is much calmer.
