Hi guys, it seems like it’s been a very long time. I know I dropped off the planet for a while and I kinda just wanted to stop in and tell everybody what the heck happened with me.
So I was fairly active about a year ago or so on here and I had some serous health issues happen, I had a heart...
I just wanted to thank everyone for helping my husband, I’m now out of the hospital. They didn’t want me to stay in the hospital due to overcrowding and the risk that I could get Covid. Which would be a serious issue with my current health. I’m still very sick but I should be fine and I...
Ahhh god, sometimes it’s just bad luck, maybe try a zip tie to “catch” if it falls so that it doesn’t fall all the way into the enclosure. This gives me anxiety.
I would be so sad to live where I can’t keep tortoises, genuinely sounds horrible ? thank god I could always ask you crazy tort people the laws before I move anywhere ? (I’m crazy tort people too)
Field mice build large colonies (the larger colonies can make large holes) and they live underground. You said you live next to a farm that would be perfect territory for field mice… rats, ground squirrels, gophers all also do this. Your tortoise/Turtles wouldn’t be in danger with most mice or...
Aw thank you guys ❤️ I’ve been MIA lately due to some serious illnesses I’ve been dealing with, but hopefully I’ll be on more now that my health is a little bit more stable.
No I wouldn’t disturb the burrow in order to check on it. Digging in the burrow could cause it to look for another place to call home and would stress him. I’m surprised there’s no other way. Sorry
I may be wrong about this but I would check it. Try to not destroy the burrow and gently check to see if it’s ok by picking it up. It’s not like your taking him or anything and there are plenty of people who herp and we touch wild reptiles-amphibians and then put them back. I go out herping all...
I actually haven’t taken pictures recently I’ll have to do that tomorrow when I feed them. But here are some older pictures of my 3 Leo babies
this was a few months ago.
First and foremost thank you guys! I appreciate you all replying to my time of need. Your words of encouragement and similar situations all bring me encouragement and light when it’s been fairly dark in my life. It definitely makes me feel better, you guys made me feel better, so thank you!
Hey I have a dobie too, she’s absolutely wonderful.. and yeah I sneak into the cold dark room and read it often lol I haven’t joined in on the conversation yet though. Thank you for your encouragement and I’m trying to do what you’re saying ❤️
I’m sorry that this happened to you, someone left you with a animal because you bought the property? And it seems they didn’t even give you any resources to provide proper care. This isn’t fair to you or the animals. Please read the link that was provided above and good luck, I’m sorry and I...
I’m not usually one to complain but lately one thing after another has been happening in my life and I’m feeling swamped with the stress it’s been causing. On a good note my leopard tortoises are all doing great. But I’m building 3 outdoor enclosures and I’ve fallen behind on that. A huge oak...
I think leopards and Bernese star tortoises do best in our climate.. the trees are an issue though. I would think it would be safer to put them in the area with the grapevines and just provide shade. With your space I would suggest a Bernese star over a leopard tortoise. But that’s just my opinion.
