Hello everyone, it's been a while since I have logged on here. I'm having trouble with my 50 pound, 6 year old sulcata. We have a HUGE backyard that is all his. Lots of grass, edible flowers/plants, 3 large hibiscus trees, a large heated enclosure... it's a monster tortoise paradise. It's all...

I'm wondering if anyone else had a lamp catch an enclosure on fire. I'm always scared of a fire with our heating lamps. Does anyone have any other stories or advice on preventing their enclosures from burning?

Just wondering. It's been warm, sunny and beautiful in Southern Cali, and dandelions are everywhere from all the rain we had. I wish mine were awake so they could feast on them.

I am sorry to hear about your tort. This is one of my daily concerns. I have 2 ten year old desert torts (Andre and Calvin) and I have found Andre flipped over 3 times in the last 2 years. We have been very fortunate to find him and flip him back over ourselves, but each time I don't know how...

I've heard of people letting their torts have the run of the house. Personally, I wouldn't do it because it seems so unsanitary, unless they were hatchlings or just a small tort... but even then I would keep them in their enclosure and not let them run around the house. Plus you can't potty...
