2 Red Eared Sliders - Omaha Nebraska

My sister has two red eared slider turtles and some accessories. Their rehoming fee is. $20 I have one large turtle that is about 10" and a smaller one that is about half that size. Included in the $20 is both turtles, what is left of their food...

    Roger is depressed, temp/light/humidity issue?

My hesitant, I've just spent a lot of time lurking in the "debatable" section. I thought about getting a second basking light since the enclosure is so big. We're also going to relocate the whole enclosure to a sunnier, warmer room in the house. I'll look into the strip light, we have one for...

    Roger is depressed, temp/light/humidity issue?

Ok, I have a little more knowledge to pass on. Rogers enclosure is a square and the only lights in there are the basking bulb and the UVB bulb. The basking temp is between 100 and 110. The area outside of the light is about 75 and the furthest reaches of the cage are 69ish. So, I think she needs...

    Roger is depressed, temp/light/humidity issue?

It is a coil bulb, I've read about MVBs but haven't decided for or against the coils yet. Her behavior isn't because of moving, she was lethargic prior to the move. I'll most likely get on amazon and buy one of the temp guns. Roger is an adult Greek. What kind of humidity should she be living in?

    Roger is depressed, temp/light/humidity issue?

Ok, so we got Roger into ANOTHER temporary enclosure. This one is much bigger than the last. It is about 4'x4'. Since we've put her in there, and with the old enclosure as well, she seems depressed. She's eating fine and I catch her in the water once in a while but she just seems lethargic...

    Outdoor Enclosure, Need Advice

I intend to do that next spring. By the time I could finish an in ground enclosure it will be too cold to use it, that's why I'm going the temporary route for now.

    Outdoor Enclosure, Need Advice

K, we are building a temporary outdoor enclosure for Roger. Eventually I want to make him a garden type enclosure but for now a box it is. I plan to make a 8x4 box with a bottom. It will have a screen top lid. I've read that I need to put plastic or a tarp down to help protect the wood, if I do...

    Red Eared Slider Help -

Today we acquired two red eared sliders from a woman on Craigslist. They came with probably $300 worth of stuff and we paid $30 for everything. Both turtles are bright eyed and active they look healthy EXCEPT for their shells. They're very brittle and flaking pretty bad. There aren't any soft...

    Turtle Diet

Have a question. I just adopted a tortoise and I was wondering of I can feed my African side neck some of the greens that I'm feeding my tortoise. We've got kale, collard greens, mustard greens and parsley. Can I toss those in the tank for Herman? He is fed worms daily and goldfish occasionally...

    Thinking of planting inside

I keep reading about how weeds are best for tortoises so I want to give him some "outside" plants rather than store bought, however with winter heading this way I was wondering if this is something I can do inside. I read someone's plan of having many tubs of food growing and then switching them...

    Yes...another subspecies ID

Yup, I didn't planning continuing them. Fruit will be a very rare treat. I was getting a little worried for a bit because she hasn't eaten since she's been home that I've noticed but after I left for work this morning my hubby texted to tell me she was chowing down on the salad I left her :)...

    Does this sound good?

Went grocery shopping today and bought Terry's grub for the week. She's a golden Greek. I bought kale, a cole slaw mix, collard greens, parsley, carrots, and mustard greens. I have hostas in the yard and I bought jade and aloe to "plant" in her box. I also plan on acquiring a spider plant...

    Hello From Nebraska

P.S. after some discussion in the Greek section, I've decided to rename Roger Queen Terralyn (he is a she) so she became the Queen to King Herman. [hr] After some serious dwelling on the new name I decided I hate it. She shall forever be Roger, the girl Greek tortoise.
