I need an enclosure idea for a red Foot Tortoise. He is about 12 years old and I've had him since he was a baby and it is time that he has a proper enclosure. I live in an apartment so space is limited. Also in Oregon so must house indoors only for most of the year - he does have a nice plastic...

Can I use an under gravel filter..without the gravel? Can't I just use the filter without the under gravel plastic thingy??
I hate the gravel, makes it hard to get tank super clean...water always have a foggy ( I do weekly changes and full change every month) look even after full drain/refill...
Would it be on the dry half of the glass? There is no spray bar or misting...so not sure why...and why would it keep spreading. It is whitish in appearance and when I wipe it off is kind of crusty...not slimy like I would expect algae to be. Got to get photos...
Not near window. Algae growth started after turning off the uvb bulb so that should not be issue. Algae seemed to climb after turning off heater.
Tank is 75 gallons with 50 for water and rest for basking area. Filter is a Fluval 505. I will be replacing all gravel and basking platforms - in...
Strange Algae spots in turtle tank - Malaysian Box Turtle. All of the glass but only above the water line. I removed the turtle for cleaning...drained a bit...and within a day, the algae started showing up. Not sure why. This is white spotted blotches...Not Water spots but like mini...
Anybody keep Malaysian Box turtles(C. Ambo)? Adopted a very big, male just yesterday. And on the surface he looks very healthy, until the owners gave me a list of his diet. All Meat including raw chicken and live goldfish...Tried to give him greens, no go. Need to wean him off an all meat diet...
Experienced as in learning all over again. Got this little girl about 5 years ago and have been fighting to get her beautiful shell back to healthy every since.
Learned this the hard way. The breeder I got her from, never used salt, and I followed his advice...And I have been fighting terrible shell issues for the last year. Healed enough to finally put her back into large tank.
I adopted very large (over 10 inches) Malaysian box turtle. The owners gave me a sample of the healthy bacteria from the filter to add back into the clean tank. I have never heard of ADDING bacteria to a turtle tank. Is this correct? This turtle is super healthy from the normal Ambo's I usually...
I am getting 75 gal tank for my diamondback terrapin. I want to use the plastic egg crate as the land area and basking platform. What is best and easiest way to attach this plastic panel to the aquarium? Needs to be removable for tank cleaning.
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance

No spare room to give. I live in small loft style townhouse. I currently have 2 other tortoise enclosures in livingroom, so making space for a 3rd will not be too hard. I just have to figure out what to build and how large to make it.
Leopard is finally here. More like 20 yrs old as he got her as young adult back in 1992. Well, she is 10 inches round. Looks like a 30 pound yellow soccer ball. I have her in temporary setup right now. Will get enclosure set up by monday. Wish I had more notice with her but will do all I can for...
Hi all. I will be adopting a 10 inch, 16 yr old female leopard today - ...owner is going over seas and wants a babysitter until he returns. There is no enclosure coming with this animal...owner used a walk-in closet for winter months.
I get to come up with something asap. I live in small...
I've read articles (cant remember where) about gartersnakes puking themselves to death after eating the red-wigglers... has to do with the toxins from the compost. Earthworms and nightcrawlers are sometimes found in a compost pile but that is not their main diet...
And yes, Harpy Thyme is name...
I have kept many garters...some wild caught, some captive bred (even have an albino Texas garter)..the wild ones will almost always take to nightcrawlers...you can cut up worms for little garters. Do NOT go for Red-wigglers..they are compost worms and will kill the garter... If you try fish...
