Well the info iv got from my vets and help from a friend that has kept all sorts of reptiles, has helped and I feel iv a got two happier and healthier torts. Plus my mothers three. Am not going to turn down the heating, special in a cold country. I don't feel this is the problem for Belva's...
It's odd, as Belva is normally the laid back one and Hetty goes about her business as normal. No quibbles sharing food, just under the heat.
Sadly their too young to sex. They are breed as females though, not too sure how accurate that is? :-/
As for temp, it's 30c under the heat and between...
This may sound rather odd, but my smaller Western Hermann tortoise, Belva, wants to bite her sisters head, Hetty, which she's a little bigger. They are both acting normal, active, feeding, bathed and warm. About 30 degrees day and night, am re-doing there home to get temps up to 40 degrees day...
Cheers. Iv got baytril to hand. Always useful to have. He's in a very large hamster pod, on special saw dust with few rocks and bit of blood worm. He's very active. Always a good sign
Iv been home all day, so I know it's just happened as iv put tea on and bathed the torts. Looked in on my turtles and noticed my tiny musk has knocked off the top layer of his scuttle. Pitcher attached. Is there anything I can do till the vets open? Iv taken him out the water, worried he'll get...
Oh my gosh! Tub of ice cream for reading all these posts :-)
Iv rescue few animals in the past 2years, iv had to be careful, as am not aloud pets in my apartment, but I can't help myself. All are small and fluffy, or water babes or my torts. I did buy my two torts from a good breeder though...
Thats annoying, I thought they needed it and asking people I thought would know, I thought I'd get the right answer. They are all active, eating etc since iv had them (12months). Could anyone recommend a bulb?
I feel your pain :-( that has recently happen to me with my chinchilla :,( the day I had to put him to sleep, was the day I found out my vet should not of taken him on and should of sent me to an exotic vet! Am still very up set and angry it has to be said. I miss my little man something rotten...
Iv asked several people before if they need any UV and iv been told no. So they haven't had any :-/ sounds like I was right in thinking they do! What watts do they need and for how long? I'll look for the pellets, they get a pinch of turtle pellets once a week, Sky is now feed on his own still...
I love the name Dudley! My latest Hermann was going to be called Hermione, but other half had trouble saying the name lol, so that's a suggestion. So I went with Hetty. Google baby names, I get loads of ideas :-)
They are rather complex animals. Most people think they sit in a viv or garden and eat greens. The leopard my mom saved was on that lines :-/ had a light bulb for light/heat. No uv for 6 weeks! It was up setting. She's doing well now. But going back to vet side of things, I guess there is so...
Sorry if iv put this in the wrong place, but I wondered if anyone on here knows about musk turtles? I have four, of late iv adopted two more from a friend, I though was two girls, but I think it's a boy/girl set. Ek! Means I have three boys and one girl! I regularly look at them in my hands, but...
I do believe what Tim/Robin is saying, I feel it has done a world of good for my tortoise. Between Baytril and worming, her growth rings have come on leaps and bounds and she's picked up. She is so small and was fighting too many worms(I'll just add, was my fault, I didn't get her to the vets as...
Baytril is a common medical to give. My hamsters, chinchilla and dogs have had it. My little Belva, about 2" long, is on it at the moment for a chest infection. When she had injection is was about 0.14, now I have to give 0.4 by sirgyne. Now that's very stressful :-/ you must get an answer from...
I'd go for something very different and isn't heard of everyday :-) am always hunting or noting down names. I just have a never ending zoo lol. But google baby names, allsorts of weird and wonderful names come up :-)
