Please critique my redfoot care sheet!(picture heavy)

Yep, as I'm researching more and more, I've decided to go with maybe a box turtle of some sort, maybe an Eastern or Ornate, instead of a tortoise.

Please critique my redfoot care sheet!(picture heavy)

Wow, this is amazing! Well done! I can't imagine the time it took you to do this. I'm going to be getting a redfoot within the next couple years. Right now I'm just spending hours upon hours researching, looking around at places for the best prices on stuff, and slowly I will begin gathering...

    Plant ID someone please

Thanks for the thread, N2TORTS. So could this be why my lil leopard passed chalk-like pieces in his poo? He ate quite a bit of that shamrock. Now I'll be all over the yard pulling it up.

    Plant ID someone please

OMG - the third is a no-no?! I thought it was just plain clover. This freaks me out! My russian and my leopard go nuts over this stuff growing in my backyard. I've never noticed them showing signs of illness.

    Lighting for Russian

I don't have a pic, but my Russian (when indoors) is housed in a 55 gallon aquarium (which does great with humidity) and I place a 100 watt PowerSun right on top of the screen on one side of the tank and he loves it - basks alot!

    Beans isn't so dark anymore!

I totally am digging the tracing idea - what an truly unique way of being able to compare growth over a period of time.

    Do you pack your substrate?

Mine gradually pack it themselves, at which point then I go in and fluff again for them.

Russian tortoise not eating since November

My opinion (and it's only an opinion): You are overreacting. I hate to see you spend a ton of money at a vet for tests that are not going to give any answers. I have a Russian, similar in size to yours, and I am also in Ohio. My Russian started slowing down in activity in late September. He's...

    MBD/Pyramiding Concern

Your Russian doesn't look too bad really. BUT, I like to keep my Russian between 50 to 70% humidity, so that's probably your problem - not enough humidity. I've got mine in a 3 ft by 5 ft homemade indoor enclosure, and I still sometimes feel like its kind of small. So the plan this spring is to...

    ? about the PowerSun

Thanks for the reply, Tom. I wondered what a UVB measuring tool was called. I'll be ordering a "Solarmeter" tonight! [hr] Thanks for your response - looks like I'll be ordering one tonight because I'm very curious what the output still is on my bulbs. [hr] I looked solarmeters, and HOLY COW...

    Size of enclosure for Russian

I agree that 4' by 2' is too small. Also, something "see through" might not be the best idea. I tried it with my Russian and it drove him nuts. He was miserable - he never stopped trying to get through the glass.
