Do Tortoises go "wild" after being put in an outdoor enclosure????

The reason I'm asking is that Mr. Pickles has been in his new outdoor enclosure for almost 2 weeks and he refuses to eat any of the greens we put in there. When he was in his tank he used to gobble up ALL his spring mix and any "treats" I put in there for him, twice a day. Ever since we set him...

Is it instinct that has them searching for the heat and light?

Since Mr. Pickles is outside 24/7 now. Does he "know" to go into his burrow at night and to come out when it's light? I have no clue. Until now, he's had the light turned on at a certain time, fed twice a day and he basked under the lamp or dug a little hole and snoozed in his log. I finally...

    Is bird netting good??????????

I've decided that I want some sort of "top" for most of the enclosure. I thought chicken wire. My husband could rig something up, but then he suggested bird netting. Easier to work with yet still get the same safety from air born predators. Is this a good choice? The sun won't have any...

I put Mr. Pickles in his new outdoor enclosure for the first time. I watched him for a bit, took some pics then walked away. Feeling like I'm letting my child go off into the world alone. lol I put him by the water. He sniffed for a bit, stuck his head out and walked to the nearest green...

How do we transition our torti from a tank to his new home outdoors?

Do we just put him out there when it's ready? Or......do we put him out there for a few hours at a time? Do we still put his old food out there to til he gets used to eating all the grasses, weeds and flowers that are out there now? Do torti's transition well or will he be scared sh**less for...
