    Outdoor Leopard Tort Enclosure

Thanks! PVC is an awesome idea! I was thinking chicken wire, I'm not sure what hardware cloth is, so google here I come! We don't have much for animals, mostly just the occasional cat or loose dog. I've yet to see a raccoon, so I don't think I have to worry about them. We do have deer in our...

    Outdoor Leopard Tort Enclosure

Great idea!! They actually have ones like that at homedepot.com, half covered, half not. I would just have to make a cover for the one side to keep out neighborhood animals!

    Outdoor Leopard Tort Enclosure

Great! Thanks so much :D. Spring and fall are definitely a bit too chilly for them here, so if this allows them to be outside for more of the year, I believe this is what I'm going to go with!

    Outdoor Leopard Tort Enclosure

Thanks everyone! Probably won't go with this idea then, if they won't be getting the UV. It does open completely on the one side, and has a screen opening on the other. I wonder if it would get cool enough with both these open?? And if they would get enough UV through the one opening??

    Outdoor Leopard Tort Enclosure

Hi all!! Was wondering if this would make a good enclosure for my leopard torts. Would it get too hot in there? It's usually pretty dry here during the summer, well actually all year round, so I was thinking this might help to keep the humidity a little better. Thanks!

Bugs in red foot cage? New mulch maybe?

I think I have the same thing in my enclosure. I have organic topsoil under my coconut coir, and I think that's where mine came from. They are EVERYWHERE in the enclosure. But they don't seem to bother my torts at all.

Aww such a little cutie!! :D My tort house was also beginning to mold in spots on the wall, so I ended up lining the entire thing as well.

    Green spot on head??

Lol! Alice just let me rub the q-tip around on her head! I think she may have enjoyed it, didn't try hiding or anything. I have yet to hear a tortoise hiss, do they all do it? [hr] Hahaha! I know right!

    Green spot on head??

Ok, so I used a q-tip during her soak this evening. . . Turns out it was just a piece of dried up greens!! I was all worried thinking her head was molding or something (not sure if that can even happen). Relieved, but feeling a little silly! Lol. :shy: Anyway, this is what it looked like:

    Green spot on head??

Re: RE: Green spot on head?? The spot is a dark green color on the top part of her head, towards the right. I tried rubbing it off with my finger right after her soak, while she was still wet. Didn't seem to want to come off. I'll try using a q-tip in the morning, and see if i can get a better...

    Green spot on head??

My little Alice seems to have developed a green spot on her head. I noticed it this evening after her soak. Can anyone tell me what this may be?? I hope its nothing serious!! :(

    Store bought plant safe?

lllreptile.com sells live plants for use in Reptile terrariums and such. I'm thinking I will be ordering some soon as the weather warms up a bit here. (I'm in Montana, so its still pretty cold at night, and I want my plants to arrive alive!) They have assorted tropical plants, ferns, succulents...
