Yes. I did. After brumation, about a week after wake up, I soaked my tortoises in water with Emergen-C added in. I have done it again. My plan is to do as a once a month thing. Preventative health. I am sharing to get my fellow tortoise geeks' opinions. I have attached pictures of the product...
How are your CDTs handling it, everybody? Are any aestivating to the point of flat out not eating? Have one who has really slowed down, just one. Not eating early am, or early evening. Keeping him hydrated. I do over worry. Just wondering what everyone else is experiencing.
Do any SoCal hosts have gopherus still sleepy heads? I do. Our weather has been quite wonky. Our March felt more wintery than the previous 3 months. I'm wondering if I should step in, and wakey wakey time. Your thoughts? Thanks.
Breaks my heart. Two died.
Luckily, others saved.

My CDT Crazy Eyes Funky Scutes came out of brumation on a very slow go. Nothing like years past. In SoCal, we had a weird winter. We actually were allowed rain.
My sweet boy seemed to have a good sleep. Did come out on his own a few times to check out the rain, stroll, be all bad. And went back...
I absolutely love and believe in Rescue Remedy. I use it when my CDTs come out of hibernation, to ease the stress. Anyone else out there use it too with their pets, or for themselves?
In Orange County, Godzilla el Nino, so far, is putzilla el Nono. Have your brumating tortoises acted accordingly? The Bradford pears and acacias are blooming, my Anna apple tree is covered with blooms. Sometimes nature works in sync. I have a waker upper. Just wondered about other CDTs and what...

So I was strolling along looking at pretty pictures and one hashtag led to the next and the next and then and I came upon these pictures.
Thump.
Yikes. On so many levels. No wonder Eric Goode is working so hard to save the ploughshare.
Thank you Eric Goode and Friends...
I have been raving about my 5 blade scissors ever since I got them a few years back, for a pretty penny back then. They are excellent for tortoise salads in order to mix all kinds of goodies in a size that is perfect for less picky choosey.
Good news, y'all! Whoo-ya!
Ball, the canning...
In another conversation, on the CTTC Yahoo List, I had asked why CDT sometimes eat certain things a lot, and they later simply ignore and walk away from the same. I had noticed this with Baja fairy duster, globe mallow, both colors, and with desert willow flowers, among a few other things.
Don...
Okay, here goes. I was going to post this in advanced tortoise topics ... or tortoise health ... or North American ... gopherus ... but it might stir a fuss so I am posting here.
Has anyone ever used a borax soak to destroy the dreaded mycoplasma agassizii?
Yes borax, as in twenty one mule...
Mojave Maxine came out of her burrow on February 17 according to The Living Desert in Palm Desert where she resides. http://www.livingdesert.org/mojave-maxine/
I know of 4 CDTs that emerged yesterday for Lunar New Year ...
Waz up y'all? And went back to bed later in the day ... see ya, bah-bye...
We have discussed the whole business of doing business in the desert before in other forums, most recently the whole thing with the Nevada tortoises, and then again using the desert tortoises as an excuse to bring in Chinese corporate cronies in solar ... to much of our chagrin.
I wanted to...
Just a reminder that Dec 26th - is the after Christmas sales-a-go-go day and a great time to get those Christmas tree boxes for your tortoises' closed chambers! And if you get two, you can connect them with silicone or duct tape, for a larger habitat. Face planted on glass door at the store...
I had seen this quilt pattern months and months ago, and I just loved it. Only thing. I don't quilt. Yet.
In today's local paper, the OC Register, they featured the designer, a local quilting teacher. Woo hoo, new year's to do! Had to share!
And remember, if you create it, please share...
