Hi everybody,
After 2 years living in a tortoise-free home i decided to take the plunge and buy an aldabra tortoise, while doing some research i came across that there are recognised aldabra tortoise subspecies ? I hope anyone would shed some light on this topic so i could identify what...
Hi all,
I recently bought a light fixture for a t8 tube uv light.
The fixture has a magnetic ballast.
Will the t8 uv bulb work fine with a magnetic ballast ?
I have no idea what I'm doing honestly. The size of the fixture is 60cm and the t8 tube is 18w

I got this for 39dhs. It bloomed 4 times and had so much leaves. But I frequently feed my torts hibiscus so it has less leaves now.
Hi, I have a juvenile indian star tortoise which pooped orange poop while soaking. Is it normal ? He ate his first hibiscus flower last week (pink flower) could it be the flower ?
Sorry it looks like there are poop flying everywhere cuz the bucket is shaked while pulling it.
He's inactive and not eating now and I'm really worried :(
When I hold him he slowly opens his eyes then I put him back and he sleeps. When soaking he keeps his eyes open but does not move
I keep them outside, I soak them once every 2 days. The humidity outside is 50-80% and they don't have access to water (when they climb they flip the dish) I have a new plant saucer but not installed it yet.
They're kept outdoors where they have access to sun and shade. Since now temps are getting cooler (25c morning and 17-19 night) I keep them inside in small tubs to sleep at night
They eat cactus pads and hibiscus leaves (my first flower just got out yesterday, it looks nice, not sure to feed it...
When soaking my 2 baby sulcatas, only one of them releases urates. The last time I have seen the other one release urates was months ago. He is more than a year old and his plastron is still soft. Is this normal ? And he didn't grow as well.
Thank you all for your replies. He's a 1 1/2 month old veiled. I rubbed some calcium powder on his head so I can distinguish him from other chameleons. I'm pretty sure it's safe cuz when we overdose calcium powder he leaves some calcium deposits on his nostrils
Hi I'm travelling now and I'm giving my chameleon to a friend who has his siblings, all are neonates and he's taking care of him until I come back
How can I tag him to diffrentiate him from his siblings ?
Hi, I recently bought a baby veiled chameleon since he was 2 weeks old, now he's a month old. And I have no UVB bulb. I sunbathe him 20-40 mins every day or 2 in unfiltered sunlight. Is that enough ? And he's getting proper supplementation.
