Well what i wanted to do was grow plants that i feed my tortoises... I figure why not? This way everything is put to use... I really dont want to take the risk of doing aquaponics for myself w/ turtles... maybe tilapia sure... but not w/ turtles...

Sup ladies and gents!
Been awhile since i've been active on this forum.... first off... How have you guys been ^_^ me myself is doing alright... To all new members... WELCOME! =)
Now to the point... My family and I are on the process of moving once we do find a house that we can buy... with...
One thing... they are great diggers specially at a young age... If its a rat.... trust me... they will chew on the tortoise first before they attempt to carry it out... is there any signs of blood anywhere? try digging everywhere.... keep us posted....
This is normal behavior from the sound of it. Just like in the wild, tortoise babies will only come out to feed and bury themselves quickly right after. This is their way of hiding from the predators. Just like all babies, they will eat, sleep and poop... ^_^ Looks like your using coconut...
DUDE! BEST QUOTE EVER! "Well I have to say, whoever told this breeder that T. g. ibera is a desert tortoise might want to go back to keeping goldfish."
HA! Dude is a moron... sorry for being so blunt about it but that guy just refused to listen and learn because he rather sell his stuff than really care for the animals. Sad but this happens a lot more often than you think...
If you are going to remove the eggs and place them in the incubator, make sure you mark the top. Unlike chicken eggs, you cant rotate the eggs of the tortoises. You'll have to place them in the incubator almost identical from the time you took them form the ground.
