Any particular reason my yellowfoot is orange?

This is another photo when it came out to have shone shelled snails. I actually don't have the breeder info. I got this guy from a store that was willing to ship so I don't have any background info other than an approx age of 6 months

Any particular reason my yellowfoot is orange?

Just wanna make sure this is normal. They yellow foot that I got (didn't see it in person first, had to have it shipped from another province) isn't yellow but rather is orange. I've had it a week or so and it seems happy, active, and healthy

    Yellowfoot Diet

I've heard that yellow foots are more omnivorous than redfoots? Is this true? Can they have the same diet as my Redfoots or do they need something more?

    Finally found a yellowfoot.

Yellowfoot are very difficult to find up here in Canada for some reason. It's much easier to find Burmese mountain tortoise or even kinixys species that a yellow but I finally found a baby. His shells a little bumpy but he's in a nice closed chamber now so that should even out a he grows. Was...

    Can they be introduced?

The thirds just a baby so far too young to sex. So general consensus is male? Looks like they'll just have to always remain separate.

Good size for a 2 year old?

Fly River is about 15, we call him Wilbur. He's one of the most personable creatures I've got. Any tips to get the sulcata on dried grasses and hay? He won't touch it and it's getting difficult to grow enough fresh grasses indoors over winter to sustain him. Can you starve a sulcata like other...

    Can they be introduced?

Ok. We can wait until the third is large enough. Is this one likely a female?

Good size for a 2 year old?

He's broken 2.5 pounds but unfortunately with how cold our winters get (-40 Celsius isn't uncommon) he has to be raised indoors most of the year an can only be outside 4-5 months a year. I think his shell looks pretty good and he's alert and active. I've had him since it was about 5 months old.

    Can they be introduced?

I've got a male in a large pen and our second largest (of three, all currently housed separately) is finally big enough to try introducing to the largest. I just want some opinions on sex, if it's male I'll keep them separate as the largest is for sure a male) otherwise if it's female I'll try...

    No reflector.

A store near me ended up having the fixture I was using with the reflector on sale for $20 so I just grabbed a new one. Thanks.

    No reflector.

It's a pretty young baby and our weather is still pretty cool during the day so probably just half an hour a day while it's this small. Central canada takes a while to heat back up after winter.

    Rescue Turtle.

The mbd doesn't seem as bad as it could be yet. He's still pretty mobile but his shell is pretty soft. He's eating lots of Phoenix worms and seems happy. He's only 119g so his shell must be quite thin, my hermanns of the same size is over 200g

    No reflector.

I've got a baby redfoot coming tomorrow and the UVB fixture I have doesn't have the reflector anymore, if I put tinfoil where the reflector should be to make the most of the UVB bulb will that be ok? It's a reptisun 5.0 linear t8 approximately 10" away from the tortoise. Just want to make sure...

    Rescue Turtle.

Here's some pics of the 3-toe I took in from substandard care. He's got a deformed shell, a spot of shell rot, MBD and his beak is slightly misaligned. He's my first box turtle so tips are welcome but I have lots of experience with tortoises and water turtles. Were going to start fixing his beak...

    Bug:Greens:Fruit ratio?

Long story short. I took in a very sickly year old three toed box turtle (shell rot, very deformed shell, some mbd and soft shell, beak problems, and potentially a minor eye infection). I have a sulcata, cherryhead, and hermanns tortoise so lots of tort experience but no boxie experience. He's...

    How warm? (Outdoors)

It's finally spring here in Canada and the snow is all gone, what I'm wondering is how warm does it have to be to start letting a little sully outdoors again? He gone from 450g to almost 2 pounds over winter and he's ready to be out in the backyard again. What temps should it be reaching during...

    Wheezing with no other symptoms

My 2 year old male hermanns has just started wheezing in the last couple days. He has no other symptoms other than the wheezing. He's active, eats lots, no swollen or puffy eyes, no discharge, and he's not breathing with his mouth open at all. Is this indicative of a respiratory infection or...

    underground reptiles good or bad

Payment was by EMT not credit card so unfortunately there was nothing to do after he accepted it, just my personal opinion but I'd warn people to be careful when dealing with him, not a company I'll support again. Plus many of the animals that did actually come were in AWEFUL condition. No...

    underground reptiles good or bad

I strongly recommend no. I placed an order from them and they shorted us $800 in animals (neglected to put them in the box) and when we confronted them all they said was "yes we did send them" and they refused to give any money back. Would NEVER EVER deal with them again.
