Moving 3.5 hrs north, from Southern Az to Northern Az... Transportation?

So I'm moving to Northern Az, about a 3.5 hour drive from my current area... Since it's winter it is pretty cold up there, maybe not out east cold (thank God) but still 20s and 30s. Any ideas on how to keep my enclosure warm on the drive up?

    Will this hurt my hatchling?

So I had to abandon my new tortoise tank, that I built, for a while. I moved with my husband, and the tank was too big and heavy to move with us. I left it with everything off, but otherwise as it was. Now we have it back, but I found this weird stuff on the soil. Looks like a red mold/dirt...

    It's finished!! Multi level

I'm so proud and Koopa seems to love it! He (it) has used the ramp several times, both up and down. He loves basking on top level and hiding underneath. I'm using a 150 watt CHE on the left and a 100 watt MVB above the multi level space for basking. I had to raise the MVB 6 inches and...

    New multi-Level enclosure almost finished!!

Got it all set up, now I'm testing temperatures before putting the substrate in! Substrate will be a mix of organic soil / organic sphagnum moss. The basking area on top I'm using a 100 watt MVB, and a 150 watt CHE for heating the rest.

New home for Sulcata hatchlings, Torty and Koopa!

So I recently acquired a 55 gal tank, with stand, and I've been busy cleaning it up and building their new home! It will have a "second floor" - 12"x12" space that they can climb up to using a ramp with side rails. This will be their basking spot. There will be a PowerSun 100 watt MVB above this...

    Torty eating rocks

So almost every day I let my hatchlings, Torty and Koopa, run around my yard under very careful supervision. So close i noticed Torty keeps trying to eat the super tiny little rocks in the yard! I usually put them down in a patch of weeds, which Koopa likes to eat, but Torty ignores in favor of...

    Torty's shell growing uneven?

I was spending some quality time with my babies when I noticed Torty's shell was kind of uneven. Like some scutes(?) are growing and done aren't.. And some feel kind of uneven... By what the breeder told me, Torty is about 5 weeks old and I've seen new growth between the scutes the whole time...

New home for my Sulcata hatchlings

It's finally finished! They love it! I have a section blocked off under the light because I'm growing a "garden" of seed mix that I ordered from sulcatafood.com and it needs to grow a little before they start trampling all over it, haha.  Right under the lamps the temps get up to 100...

    Baby Sulcata habitat

Is this a good schematic for a baby sulcata? I'm using a 106 qt tub, like this one: http://m.homedepot.com/p/Sterilite-106-quart-Latch-Box-18898004/100558429/ Now i have several questions: 1. Can the CHE and mvb be on the same side? 2. Should the humid hide be on the warmer or cooler side...

    Our two new babies!

For those of you who don't regularly look through the Introductions section, I'm Mangito and I have recently suddenly acquired two new Sulcata hatchlings, now about 3 weeks old, which we named Torty and Koopa. Both had their umbilical cords still, although Torty's fell off the first day. I...

    New with two babies!

Hi, my name is Mangito and I live in Southern Arizona. I am now the proud owner of two Sulcata babies, Torty and Koopa, both around 3 weeks old. I'm so excited to be a new mommy and very anxious about health and care. These babies came upon us kinda suddenly, so I've had to do what I can...
