Best guess on Burmese star gender?

With calipers the ratio is a bit over 1.5, looking at my newer pictures combined with this makes it almost certain to me now. I wish this one would flash, that's the only thing that makes me at all uncertain.

Best guess on Burmese star gender?

Here's a few more in better light and better angles. I'm pretty sold on male at this point, but I will try the caliper method to be sure (since I have some). I would have preferred a 1:2 trio, but seems like others get along with primarily male groups. My female and larger male have been moved...

Best guess on Burmese star gender?

It's been awhile, but I have some updated pictures to add. Decent growth last year, from 4 3/4" to about 6" and 425 grams to 660 grams. I'm thinking a probably male at this point, but I'm still not 100%. My current male seemed more obviously male at this size. Any thoughts?

How to provide a good egg laying environment?

Update on this post - Last fall I needed to induce the female in question to get her to lay, but a few nights ago she laid a clutch of 10 eggs! The three things I changed were: 1. Increased calcium supplementation. 2. Improved diet quality. 3. Additional topsoil and a slight incline within the...

How to provide a good egg laying environment?

Thanks, I'll add that info later today I'm currently in Bloomington, IL USA. My notes from last year had eggs laid infrequently until about this time, year before that was the first year eggs were laid and I only saw a few. One of the later ones last year looked like it may have been retained...

How to provide a good egg laying environment?

My adult female Burmese star laid unfertilized eggs on the ground readily and without issue last year, but this year has not laid to my knowledge. A recent X-ray showed healthy eggs and at that time a few test holes were dug. She was then moved to a new location after I purchased a new home...

Male Burmese Star - how big to breed?

Hi All, I looked at previous threads and could not find a satisfactory answer. I have a female (~12" long, ~9 years old, fertile), and a male (~6 inches long, ~3 years old) and while I know the male is still too small I'm wondering if anyone can report the smallest breeding size for a male...

Best guess on Burmese star gender?

That's about what I was thinking. Maybe female, but too small to be sure. I only have 3 torts for reference, so was hoping someone with a more practiced eye could make a more informed guess.

Best guess on Burmese star gender?

I realize this comes up often, but any guesses on the sex on this little one? He/She is about 4 3/4 inches and 15 oz(425 grams). I have an obvious (flashing) male that is almost 6" long and an adult egg-laying female. I'm hoping to end up with a 2:1 trio, but if not will house them separately.
