I just got a new red footed hatchling last week, and have a few questions. I'm hoping someone can point me in the right direction!
I live in Houston, TX, which is already a naturally humid area. However, I am struggling to keep the humidity above 50% in my enclosure (details below). I am...
I have an adult female three toed (who is not up for adoption). She has two babies from her last year, and one baby which I adopted. All three yearlings are three-toed boxies. Unfortunately my schedule no longer allowa for the babies to get enough attention and care. I am looking for someone...
Dora has emerged and was begging for food. I have wild strawberries growing everywhere... She had a nice wild treat and some worms.
Babies (inside) are more active as well!
I brought my boxie out of her hibernation in the garage because it got up to 80* here for a week. She buried herself in her outdoor enclosure and it's pouring rain and dropped down to 42* already. Should I dig her up?
I was just wondering if babies inside on their first year naturally "hibernate". I noticed they weren't very active during the winter and now I see them frequently now that it's in the 70's outside.
So, I am most likely at my turtle max... I def cannot take the male, but would be interested in the female. Still thought I would post this here in case anyone in the Houston area is interested. The tank looks too small, and I am not interested in any of the tank/accessories, just the female...
So, my brother has brought me hay that is left over from the bottom of his hay barn. It has not been in contact with the horses or horse manure. Would this be great to spread in my outdoor turtle garden, 50 gallon turtle hybernation box, and my indoor turtle hatchling enclosure?
Thanks!
Ok... so this is probably silly but I miss my turtle Dora! I'm sure everyone is missing their guys. She is hibernating in a 50 gallon in our gaurage. I have checked on her once just to see how she's doing. She seemed fine to me, asleep. I'm leaving her be until "Spring" comes around...
Hi everyone,
I have three hatchlings (three toed), one I purchased and the other two are my adult females babies. They may be mixed, I don't know who the father is...
Anyways, I have tried everything but their shells have these dry spots on them. I read the blog about how to treat shell rot...
What is a good source of providing heat to hatchlings? I have three and the temps in my house are now duping down to 68 at night. They already have the fluorescent UVB light, but it's not producing any heat.
This will be my first year for Dora (female adult TTBT)... I live in Humble area (north of Houston).
Any idea when she will hibernate? What do you typically do with yours? Our weather is pretty warm here, so I wasn't sure what to expect!

Ok, so I stumbled across a nest with open eggs... And then dug around and found one baby.... Then across the enclosure another one!!!
Any ideas on the best way to find them all???
I need help!
Good morning everyone,
While perusing local ads for box turtles... I ran across one titled, "Hatchling Box Turtle-$100". Then the description reads, "50 cent piece size. The adult turtles seem intent on hurting it".
So.. I contacted them. They said the hatchling could be any type, possibly a...
