I still loooove this set up too! I owe you big time for posting this! Mine is outside much of the time now but this set up is still amazingly practical!! :<3::tort::<3::tort::<3::tort::<3::tort:
The outside enclosure is not covered because it is way too big of an area. My tort is the only animal I have so he has the run of 95% of my wooden fenced in yard. I blocked off the section with the a/c heat unit and bushes he can't eat. My tort is over 10 inches long now so I was told he will...
I have finally completed my leo's outside heated tort box. (Thank you Tom and Heather for your amazing posts on how to do this and a family friend for replacing my outside plug so it works again) Murphy the tort is adjusting to it slowly as torts do. Here is my concern. Obviously I close it...
Mine is doing the same thing right now while adjusting. He peers out like a submarine. Plant Hibiscus bushes!! Mine loves them!! He also hides out in the mint plants. Doesn't eat it although he could but it makes his shell smell nice after. Aloe plants. He has some turnip greens to he...
Mix the orange oil with water and just plain old molasses from the grocery store? Cause I also think it will work better for the rainy South. I'll probably get the DE too though. I hate fire ant bites. MISERABLE. I had no idea until I moved down here how bad these lil buggers could be so...
I was just going to ask this same question. Thanks. I'm going to try DE. And prob orange oil too. I had heard abt orange peel but the oil is more concentrated I am guessing. Thanks.
Great! Happy birthday to your tort. The hat is just printed from the computer with a green background and clip art. I curved it into a cone. His "cake" is cactus pads cut into a circle using a cup pressed onto it and winter squash/soaked mazuri in the center. He absolutely loved it.
Happy Murphday! Today is Murphy Abrams 2nd birthday! Thank you so much everyone for all the great advice I have read about on here. You have really helped me and Murphy is thriving. I don't post much but I read a lot on here. He is now about 9 inches long and 2010 grams. My lil peanut is a...
Thank you. Just wanted to make sure I was getting the correct one. Can't wait to get started bldg. Should be very interesting with how well I do with it. So glad you and Tom gave detailed instructions to follow.
Heather, I am going to start purchasing everything to follow what you built for Levi pretty much exactly since I have just 1 leo myself. Here is my question: For my oil space heater do I buy a mini oil space heater that's 500-700 watts that has a min/max turn dial and then plug it into the...
Thanks. I'll feed very sparingly and only in season. He eats a varied diet already. I like to keep his taste buds guessing. Man he loves those cactus pads though!!!!
So can a Leo yearling eat optunia fruit? Everything I read on here says no fruit which I have followed religiously but they had some at the farmers market where I get his optunia pads. Don't wanna harm my lil guy. But the fruit is listed on some of the approved lists. Thanks
I never notice the growth except by weight gain until I look at photos I have taken in the past. Then I can see the big differences in shell pattern that show growth and change. I love to look at those pics. I even take photos next to the same object and it really shows size difference
