    Updated Photos of Toothless, Jet

Thank you for the compliments re: Toothless and Jett. I've caught many Iguanas in various places, i.e. Mexico, Bonaire; one of them in Bonaire managed to get a tail whip across my face before I could control it. I'm not sure Iguanas actually seek out attention from humans as much as they simply...

    Updated Photos of Toothless, Jet

Yes that was Toothless in the forefront; always makes sure he gets his due! One thing I was hoping Aldabraman could shed light on recently occurred to me and not sure if it's valid: reptiles in general do not seek out or much appreciated human contact; this is true across most species that I'm...

    Updated Photos of Toothless, Jet

Still triyin to bend iCloud to my will! OK these pics are of Toothless, Jett; Jett is the more pyramided on; hey, happened before I got her/him. Still, a mild to moderate case. Toothless was raised in Arizona and squirted a few times over 4 years. Pretty good for way low humidity. I'm sure he'll...

    Updated Photos of Toothless, Jet

Hello. been awhile since I posted; just wanted to get Toothless, Jett photos uploaded; they're about 5 now; Toothless is about 45 lbs and Jett is about 39 lbs or so. Very healthy, though Jett continues to defer to Toothless when bellying up to the Smorgasboard!

    Sulcata Pair

Yes I have a 5 year old female also. Then there are the 4 year old pair of Aldabras. I'm thinking of giving up the pair you see here so I can focus on the Aldabras, frankly.

    Pics of Toothless, Jett

Well, they are toothless but the name is from the movie"How to train you dragon" and was the name of the dragon trained by the main character. You like it? Marty

    Pics of Toothless, Jett

Just wanted to share Toothless and Jett's progress; this is Jett who has more pyramiding than I would would wish but is still a gorgeous tort.

    New Mazuri LS

Is anyone using the new formulation of Mazuri LS Tortoise Food? I just opened my 25lb bag and was a little surprised at the new shape, somewhat like mealworms. Just wondering how other folk's animals are taking to it. My Aldabras seem to like it but I think they were a little put off by the...

Health implications of rapid growth in Aldabra tortoises

I'll look for it but I know it's on You Tube and is really about Aldabra Island in general, with an aside on tortoises.

Does shyness reliably predict sex in young Aldabras?

What surgical procedure? I thought the vet just put a scope up the anus(cloaca?) and looked at the anatomy. Is that not right? Marty

Does shyness reliably predict sex in young Aldabras?

No I don't know if Jett is a "he"; I'm probably just being anthropomorphic and engaging in wishful thinking but their behavior causes me to want to assign sex based on Toothless' shyness and Jett's willingness to engage with me a little by having his head and neck scratched. Like I said, it's...

Does shyness reliably predict sex in young Aldabras?

How about the anecdotes that claim young female Aldabras are noticeably more shy than young male Aldabras? Can you reliably determine the sex of young Aldabrans this way? Toothless is way more shy than Jett who is about 3-4 y.o. and will routinely extend his neck for a good rubdown and scratch...
