My Indian star would be pacing around her enclosure, a plastic tub and seemed to be looking for food. She would raise her head high and give a look which seemed to say, "hey man, where's the food?". That's in the morning. In the afternoon she would take naps and sometimes she would just stare...
This is piece of news about selflessness of animals.
In this case is a dog.

:)
My star seemed to enjoy the chin rub. And she will close her eyes when I stroke the top of her head.
I also agree that it is good to let your tort familiarize with your scent so to have less problem about stressing your tort when one day you need to apply any med or beak trimming.
Hi, cute star :)
Did you bring phoebe for a stool check?
It will help determine whether there are parasites or worms in your tortoise.
If there is, it will affect the nutrition absorption.
I had mine checked and after some med, she had a growth spur. :)
pretty star! don't worry too much about the growth and weight. like skottip mentioned, as long as Sheldon is eating, sleeping, drinking and pooping, have a hard shell, he will be fine.
the important thing is the temperature and humidity.
if you are keeping him in a indoor enclosure, these...
there is something in their eyes that captures me.
my 3 and a half year old star just looks at me and i can feel she is communicating with me, not exact informations but some kind of feeling. very smoothing and peaceful. :)
hi,
I have been trying to get my Indian star to eat hay but not successful until I tried mixing this oxbow Timothy hay cake with mazuri. after a few weeks, I offered the hay with the mazuri and my star ate it.
Ingredients
100% timothy hay cubes. Preservative and additive free. Loose hay...
I believe different Stars grow at different rates like us do. Some bigger, some smaller.
I experienced my star growing very slowly for the first year or so.
Only after I sent her for a check up which the vet propose a deworming job that spurred her grow.
Now I think she is overweight. =D...
RE: Beautiful story in the news
always heard people say you have to be less emotional to get the job done or achieve great goals. but in this case, or certain jobs, you have to be emotional, like the vet, Dr Nancy Mettee. Truly a professional with the right balance of emo/logic.
hi wrmitchell22,
my star is 19months old. still small i believe. i wonder how old will he start to take hay.
for now, he will have to dine in to vege and mazuri, which i think are good stuff but not as natural as grass/hay which is stars' staple. =)
today just bought some timothy hay cubes and dried rose.
my star, Homer, just walk past the dried rose, sniff alittle on the hay cube, took a small bite, and sticks out his tongue and spit out the hay.... =(
now he's eating some carrots and mazuri...
hi all star lovers, do your star eat grass and/or hay?
I have tried, timothy, alfafa and orchard hay of different brands but my star doesn't like them at all. he tried to chew but spit it out again.
as for fresh grass, I have not tried to bring him to a grassy area to graze.
I read so...
