Earp enjoying some morning outside time.

Since it has been so hot here lately, and I don't have the shade cloth up yet and the nightbox is still undergoing improvements, I have been putting Erap outside in the early morning until noon, bringing him in and then putting him back outside around 4pm for a couple hours.

    Earp's Outdoor Enclosure

Ok. While I welcome constructive criticism, just be kind. Getting this enclosure done (enough) to get Earp out in it has been a harrowing experience. The house (which is loosely based on Tom's outdoor house.. loosely because the person I had build it made it differently and it's wasn't an...

    Greek? Girl?

I adopted this beauty from a friend of mine who is an exotics vet tech in PHX. Poor girl was minding her own business when her careless owner ran the lawn mower over her, mangling her right arm. I was curious if y'all could give me more specific species? My friend said she could be about 30...

What the heck?!? Is this tortoise trying to lay eggs?

I woke up to this sight today... first, neither of the two tortoises (est. ages 8 years) has ever flashed me, and both their tails look exactly the same.. sooooo, I assumed I had two girls or two immature boys. They had a nice longer than usual soak yesterday, so I don't know if that got things...

    Baby centipedes?

I have noticed these little bugs in both my red foot and dessert tortoise enclosures.. they like damp, dark places and look suspiciously like baby centipedes. What are they? And more importantly, if they are baby centipedes, how do I get rid of them?! The one in the photo is probably half and...

    My tortoise herd

I didn't snap any photos of Flash, she's pseudo-hibernating and I don't want to bother her too much. Redfoots, I moved them into the same enclosure about a week ago. They are all eating, drinking, soaking and hiding without any issues. Coco's old enclosure was getting increasingly hard to...

    Two new babies

Here are the three babies soaking this morning, Mr. Binker left, new baby #1 center, new baby #2 right. Close up, of two new babies. I am still in awe of how much orange Mr. Binker has in his shell, so beautiful!

    Tongues

I have noticed in most of the photos of adorable tortoise tongues, they are pinkish... Mr. Binker's and Flash's tongues are pinkish. But my two DT's tongues are more whiteish with yellow undertones. Is this normal or is it a sign of illness or deficiency? I know with mammals sometimes pale...

    Desert tortoise concern

I just picked up two desert tortoises this afternoon, I gave them a nice long soak because they both looked really dry. This one didn't hardly move during the entire soak, except for this: https://docs.google.com/file/d/0ByhKcTvx6UpuNnJfZHBFUW1CRklsNzhDVjlmVzg2eHJaS19v/edit?usp=docslist_api...

    Aww, man! (Pyramiding?)

I think Mr. Binker has some pyramiding :( I had cut down to 1 soak a day, but I am thinking maybe I should go back to 2 soaks a day? His enclosure stays at or above 80% humidity and although he has access to water all day long I make sure he drinks at least once a day. He isn't much for...

    Soooooo excited!

I had purchase two raised garden bed kits several months ago, with the intention of making the outdoor enclosures.. However after seeing another forum member using the same kit indoors(http://www.tortoiseforum.org/index.php?threads/Setting-up-new-closed-chamber%2E.95576/), I thought, heck ya...

Camphorweed, Arizona Poppy and Trans-Pecos Thimbleweed?

I cannot find any info on if either of these are edible... Does anyone know? http://www.fireflyforest.com/flowers/1246/hymenothrix-wislizeni-trans-pecos-thimblehead/ http://www.fireflyforest.com/flowers/1223/heterotheca-subaxillaris-camphorweed/...

Why do all weeds have to have yellow flowers..?!

It makes it so hard to identify. I have three here for y'all to see if you can help me out--I just get so paranoid, if I cannot find an *exact* matching photograph and I have been looking for hours. I colored the arrows which point to the three weeds... the leaves that look like way pointier...

    What the heck is this?

And more importantly, is it going to eat me? My mom is sure it is a Triffid. Note: I have no intentions on feeding this to anyone, just need identification so I know how best to eliminate it without killing my other plants.
