Hello! I'm new to this forum

The vet was very pleased to see her today; I was surprised to learn she weighs 33lbs! He gave her an oxytocin injection and so far she has laid 6 more eggs. She's eating dandelion, prickly pear mushrooms, sweetpeppers, and blackberries this evening with a CaD3 topper :-)

Pics of Buttercup, my Elongated Tort

This pic shows the odd scutes on Buttercup's back. I think his plastral scutes are odd as well, but I have no other elongated to compare. Suzy

Pics of Buttercup, my Elongated Tort

This is My Elongated Tortoise, Buttercup. Given to me about six years ago. He was maybe 3-4 inches then, his scutes were a bit dishy. He is a CB, born with an irregular scute pattern. He's grown quite a bit since then. Much more wary and nervous than my other torts. Suzy

    Trading Goodies?

some varieties of prickly pear aren't as hardy as others, I live in zone 5 and some types can't survive our cold winters. I found some hardy variety growing wild here and replanted it. Seemed to like sandy, low-nutrient soil.

Hello! I'm new to this forum

Yvonne I found eggs in the mound, but also elsewhere in the pen...I'm sure it's her first time laying... It's been 6 years since she has been housed with a male. So I'm incubating some eggs just on the off-chance they might be fertile. I thought she might not have laid them all in the nest...

Hello! I'm new to this forum

Thanks, Mikeh She is 14.5 inches (36cm) SCL. She was probably about 10 inches SCL when I got her, and she's grown about 4 inches or so in straight length in the last 5 years. Her carapace was flatter, too. Now she has "domed up" and increased more than 4 inches in girth. I did give her some...
