    New Outdoor Enclosure

Actually built out the bottom to house a juvenile red foot that was dropped off at the vet clinic, so has a barrier most of the way around, but I should add to bottom portion of the door.

    New Outdoor Enclosure

Finally got around to having my outdoor enclosure built out a few months back. Had an Aquascape certified pond builder put in the pond, and found a guy local in Orlando to build my vision for the woodwork. And a hutch to house a yellow foot rescue and lock up at night if needed.

    Tortoise attacked by rat (?)

Exactly what mine looked like on both front limbs. A lot of sloughing took place for the 2 to 3 weeks after the whitish skin was visible.

    Tortoise attacked by rat (?)

Ours was open for a little while, and eventually grew over with a scab. I was using a dental "pick" to try and keep the nasal passage open, and using one of those baby nasal aspirators to suck any of the bad stuff out. It eventually grew all the may over and the scab fell off. We sterilized that...

    Tortoise attacked by rat (?)

We just used plain filtered water for the soaks. We found that sweet potato was what got him eating again - cooked it, cooled it and then put it in, and he went for it pretty quickly.

    Tortoise attacked by rat (?)

It happened back in January on the 3rd. My wife is a Vet, but she insisted we take him to a Vet that she knows that specializes in wildlife/exotics, and he said the soaks are essential, especially with taking medication/antibiotics to ensure he is hydrated - don't want to create kidney or liver...

    Tortoise attacked by rat (?)

We try to do a 30 minute soak before each treatment, then put him directly into his hide when we placed him back in his temp. enclosure to try and reduce the stress. Here are some photos/Xrays.

    Tortoise attacked by rat (?)

I am building a "table" for my recovering tortoise, and he'll be in there for the foreseeable future. Depending on how he does there will determine if he ever makes it back outside long term. He seems top be doing better, but still not 100% sure he is going to make it, but doing everything we...

    Tortoise attacked by rat (?)

Just went through the same thing - it took just over a month before mine started eating again. We back up to a cemetery, so have rats and racoons - rat burrowed under boards that I sank 4 inches - have traps out now to keep others away from my outside enclosure, and am building a table to put...

    Female or male...

Thanks, I'm obsessed and want more, but need to figure out more space. Adding a misting system to his current enclosure so I can put it on a timer for a daily rain for him.

    Female or male...

Here is mine that is a little over 3 years old. I got him from Vic, and Vic was convinced he was a male based on incubation temps.

Urgent - Manouria Freeze Warning - Advice

I have a night box with an 80 watt radiant heat panel (you can get them from reptilebasics.com - https://www.reptilebasics.com/rbi-radiant-heat-panels) and run it off a thermostat set at 70 - when it's cold like this I lock them in for the night and let them out during the day if the sun is out...

Newbie to the group - yelllow foot age

My yellowfoot was tiny for the first 18 months - i thought I was doing something wrong because he wasn't growing at the same rate as my elongated or black mountain (though I anticipated the black mountain to grow fast based on everything I had read. Here is a picture from when he was 3 months...

anyone have a pond in their enclosure?

Remember to dig it wide enough to account for filling it in with the rocks - depending in which rocks you use, you are going to lose 3-4 inches around the edge. 2 other items I just remembered as well: I used this to connect the pond liner to the waterfall...
