I'm looking for a new home for him because I sadly do not have the time to properly take care of him anymore. I also have the full setup available as well if you're in...

Comment by 'Travis' in media 'Obsessed with Rowan's back legs'

My little(He's not actually very little..) guy does this all the time. I thought it was hilarious the first time I saw him do it.

    Think he may be unwell

What type of 'lettuce' was that in his area? If it's iceberg lettuce, stop feeding him that as it has zero nutritional value. A good start for food for him would be the "Spring Mix" salad stuff you can find at grocery stores.

    New to red foots

Make sure you're keeping her well hydrated and in an enclosure with higher humidity around 80-85%. She is looking kind of 'dry' in that picture you posted, so I would make an effort to soak her everyday for the next week or two then bring it to soaking 2-3 times a week. The pyramiding she...

Do you have any pictures of your enclosure? That rain system seems very interesting and i'd love to see it.

Mazuri. Sometimes or all the time?

I'm just curious what everyones opinion of whether you should do Mazuri all the time or some of the time. Personally, I have mazuri out all the time for them to munch on. I will give them greens a couple times a week, even if they don't really touch them. lol

    Tortoise pellets or no pellets

I've only been able to find the LS version of Mazuri. My torts have never had the original. They love the LS version of Mazuri. Everytime I put out fresh greens and mazuri, they will literally ignore the fresh food and go straight for the mazuri.

TORTOISE STRESS. ARE THEY REALLY THAT FRAGILE

I agree. I dont really think they're that fragile or get stressed out easily. With hatchlings and those younger than a year or so, i'm fairly gentle with them. With ones that are older, I dont try to be gentle. Dont get me wrong, i'm not rough with them either. When picking them up, i...

    UVB life span

I think a good rule of thumb is every 6 months. I've read that numerous places and it's what I personally always do. But like Wellington said above, only surefire way to know is uv meter. But those are pricey

Thinking about getting a turtle, any suggestions?

I'm currently the owner of 3 red foots. Two hatchlings about 6 months old and one 3 year old red-foot. I've been thinking of expanding my tortoise/turtle collection for quite some time and believe I'm ready to get myself a turtle or 3. I'm thinking of getting 3 hatchling Mississippi Map...

    Mississipi, ouchita, false, other?

I think it's probably an Ouchita as well. Although that carapace does look hella similar to a Mississippi turtle.

    Turtles playing?

Tortoises/Turtles don't really play together. Or really play I guess. lol. Closest thing i've personally seen to my tortoises playing is them constantly trying to scale everything in their tank. Climbing on top of their house and just sitting there, then basically jumping off.

    How's my setup?

I disagree, I think the enclosure is plenty big enough for the time being. Although, the enclosure will become too small quickly enough. OP, make sure your temps and humidity are able to stay constant in there!

    What's your red-foots favorite food?

Is it bad that I just now heard of Mazuri? lol. I've done a ton of reading on tortoises, and this is somehow the first time i've heard about it. After doing a quick search, it appears to be everywhere... Weird.

    What's your red-foots favorite food?

I know my 2 year old red-foot LOVES carrots. Everytime there is shavings of carrots in the food i supply, he always goes for them first.

    What do you think?

They seem pretty nice. Only issue is that they do seem pretty small. I mean, I have a 2 year old red-foot in a bigger enclosure than the biggest one they have.
