wheew catching flak as i knew i would. my torts shell is getting smoother since ive adopted him/her. and my tort does have a very humid natural dug burrow outside, as i stated. my tort is very healthy, growing very rapidly, and loves me. so debate with yourself and your little man syndrome...
my tort is about 2.5 maybe younger and he maybe twice the size of that. his diet consists of romain, red leaf lettuce, and occasional honey dew melon.
i bought an 11 month old bearded dragon morph, blood red morph or something. anyways he shed a total of 2 times over the year i had him. so he...
the lady i adopted him from said he lived outside year round, the tort came by his lonesome with no shelter, no lamp, nothing. so i assume she just left the tort outside year-round. she didnt know much about him either. i have only had him for about 6 months. i got him at the very start of summer.
oh that would help. i live in arizona. maricopa city. i dont have to worry about summer temps, nor winter day time temp. it does get cold in the desert, especially at night, maybe around 65 or lower in the winter.
i have a 2.5 year old tortoise and intend to keep him/her outside for the winter.
does any1 have any experience with a sulcata in the winter season, this is my first winter with a tort.
i plan on keeping em' outdoors for the winter, and bring him inside if its real cold at night. what...
i live in arizona. i didnt know a burrow was such a big deal.
the lady i got my tort from said he lives outside year round with no help from her. my tort is about 2 years old. i really want him to take a natural path in everything he does. including grazing on his native grass and sleeping...
thanks emy, you know ive only had my tort for 3 months. i never went threw an entire season with him. what should i be expecting when he needs to hibernate?
i have found a way to make my tortle burrow his own buisness. i started with a dirt mound, and his "house". for a while his house was just a small box flipped over with an entry hole cut out. but then i thought, this little handful likes making messes.
so what if i cut out another hole on...
if your saying im not smart. wich im not saying i am. but you living in florida, you should realize that uvb/uva rays get magnified through the clouds.
dummy. go swimming if your hot.
if we had humidity our index would be in the 200's. 120 dry heat. you wouldnt want an outdoor job.
yeah the humidity makes it hot.... but theres nothing like having chaped bloody lips, and sun burns that bleed.
im glad i live in arizona. its already reaching 98 degrees outside. mwuahahaha. j/k. since its like 60 at night and 95 in the day. my buddy stays outside now. hes in heaven, eating, pooping, drinking tons of water, im happy.
i got to put some pennies iin here. the sahara desert reaches temps of like 120 degrees. all reptiles need to heat there blood up. if you have low heat it could result in poor circulation. 95 dergress is good but lil babies in the sahara thrive in 120 degree conditions.
sup dude. nice tort. mine is a juvenile, he also sleeps a lot. i was at the zoo today and they had galapigoes (horrible speller) and they were huge. the also had sulcata that were probably in the 150 pound territory. and they were all out roaming around. so i guess its safe to say TOM is right...
no i wouldnt want to eat the same thing everyday;) ive been mixing it up, and hes been eating a pooping. so im overall happy with my new tort. but im still want to plant grass and a mix i found at carolinasupply or whatever its called.
