Old Project Recycled for Box Turtles Outdoor Enclosure

Brunswick Maine is a variety of dwarf 30 cm tall with a 1.5 m width (which can be pruned smaller). Here is a link to the article I found http://www.sustainablehomesteading.com/edible-and-medicinal-plants/growing-cold-hardy-food-forest-berries-vines-fruit-trees/

I like how it's grown in. Are the plants growing through the top yet or are you trimming the plants back? She looks cozy inside her hide.

Hi new here box turtles are my focus

Thanks for the thoughts Yvonne G cutting clay pots is easy enough. If you soak it overnight in water you can use a round file to grind a line where you want the opening to be. Using it like a saw. Or power tools can go along way, if your comfortable with them, to making it faster. I will have...

Old Project Recycled for Box Turtles Outdoor Enclosure

I can't find any proof of toxic strawberry leaves short of commercially produced berries being treated with a nasty chemical. If your growing them in the confines of your yard they wouldn't have that. They are also a native plant to the turtles natural range. An everbearing variety could give a...

    Box turtle indoor plants

Great advice on the swapping out. Given the swapping out idea you could grow many native fruits (strawberry, blueberry, raspberry, currants, lingonberry, Swiss chard, lettuces, etc.)!!!! Exciting stuff!!!

    Box turtle indoor plants

OMG, not one reply! I'm new here so ... anyway do you have lights and vertical space? If you do I would do a hibiscus. The flowers are edible! If you have a green thumb you could split the rootball and insert a half round of wood or a pot so he can hide under the roots.

Old Project Recycled for Box Turtles Outdoor Enclosure

I like it! I think Bert will be fine with seeds so long as they are not covered with fungicides/pesticides/fertilizers ect. Just natural seeds. I think some vetch would make a great ground cover and/or clover. If you don't put something in there to cover the bare soil nature will cover it for...

Hi new here box turtles are my focus

I know a box turtle is not a tortoise but they are native to my SE Ohio region and I adore their personalities! I currently keep no pet turtles as I have yet to buy my land and set up a proper outdoor enclosure for them. Really my end goal would be making an environment friendly for the wild...
