If anyone near little rock, AR, or willing to ship, has a leopard tortoise to rehome I'd love to give it a loving home. I could pay shipping or if anyone wants to do a trade I have a high end gargoyle gecko I'm looking to trade. He's healthy and everything I just don't need two males. Thanks -steph

Does anyone have a link of plants that are ok to use? I started to buy a fern the other day and put it back b/c I was unsure of myself.

I decided to go with just moss for now bc the one I have is still pretty small maybe 4 inches. I think I'll wait to put bark

    Cypress mulch?

Should I use cypress mulch for a yearling? Or just use moss? I currently have moss and repti bark. I worry about the cypress jabbing them. I thought about mixing it with coco earth and packing it down. Could anyone tell me what they use. I'm a beginner with tortoises

Red foot looks like eyes watering

I haven't noticed any more tears. I soaked him yesterday and today. I'm not sure that warm humidifier is gonna work. It's more like steam! I'm going to look into a fogger and try to set up a mister system.

Red foot looks like eyes watering

I just took my temp and it's at 81.5 on the hot side at ground level and the shell hide could get him to 82 and the cool side about 76. The humidity is at 40% between sprays and 81% afterwards. We've been misting twice a day. I also soaked him in a tad of water. I'm attaching photos of the lil one

Red foot looks like eyes watering

No I haven't been soaking daily, should I try soaking him when I get home? I got a tub for him bc I was told they hold the humidity the best. Should I use more moss and no bark? It's the repti bark by zoo med

Red foot looks like eyes watering

I have one of those basking bulbs 130 watts with UVB UVA about 18" from the hide. I can get temps and humidity levels when I get home. I've been misting his set up several times a day until it reaches 80%. I got a Vicks warm humidifier in the mail yesterday. I'm going to try to rig it to hold...

Red foot looks like eyes watering

Hi all, I got my first tortoise a small red foot off craiglist about 2/3 weeks ago. I noticed him rubbing at his face and yesterday I would swear it looked like tears, like crying. Can anyone provide some insight? Is it something I should treat? Or something I just need to watch?

    New owner of red foot

How does this look so far? I know I still need to get a second hide and plants. I bought a basking bulb that is supposed to have UVA and UVB. I'd like to do a level with a ramp on the basking side eventually :)

    New owner of red foot

I see a lot of glass terrariums , is that the direction I should be going over the tub? I got the tub because I understood the glass terrariums don't maintain the humidity?

The tub I got is roughly 3'x2'x18". I'd say the tortoise is between the size of a golf ball and a baseball. 80% so would I need to cover the bottom with mostly moss to achieve the humidity or should I buy a fogger? planning to cut out a 10x10 and place a zoomed 12x12 lid to support the heat...

    New owner of red foot

Would anyone be willing to share a photo of a proper set up for a 6month old red foot? Secondly, it was suggested that I get a sterilite tub to keep him in as it holds humidity best. Opinions? I bought the largest surface area tub they had at Walmart. Baby is around the size of a toddler shoes.
