These three articles helped a lot for me with regards to C. flavomarginata's care. Though I don't know if I would follow any particular one with 100% compliance, the similarities between the three sources and the details given (in particular the last one) provide some good insight into their...
Thanks for the help Chris, I read through your site after posting this and it has been very informative! Ended up getting some T. g. marokkensis from a breeder I have worked with in the past.
I remember having this same problem a couple of years ago (since I needed a soil to also have plants in the enclosure), my concern with almost all top soils commercially available was that they all use sand as an ingredient. I ended up doing a crude analysis of the Parkwood 3 in 1 planting mix...
Hi everyone,
I am looking to obtain a golden greek. These are the pics I received from the seller (they are not the original breeders so I was not able to confirm the adults, they did inform me the torts are about 6 months old). Based on my searches, these look too dark to be goldens? Any...
The lights are fine to use, but whats more important are the temp range and temp questions that JoesMum posed. The correct light placed too close/too far or in a wrong location in the enclosure could still cause problems.
Also, to me it looks like its beak is very over grown.
What are the...
The enclosure can be as simple or creative as you want. (As long as things like temp and filtration is followed already). So as long as there is a sizable dock for it to come out to the surface and bask in dryness.
Powersun and other mercury vapour bulbs work great for turtles. Bascially...
Thanks guys, I am slowly learning about this species. Its one of my dream tortoises and since its going to take a long while and hefty lump sum of money to get them, I want to be as prepared as I possibly can (hence reading everything source I can find on them--which inevitably will lead to...
Thanks guys for all of the input. I got really confused when ready the different care guides and anecdotes (especially with the "egyptians are REALLY fragile" mentality in the back of my head).
And hahaha, I completely missed the rh...Thanks for the clairification.
what humidity do you keep your egyptians in? what do you use as substrate?
for the egyptians, do you notice they go to the basking hot spot often? or do they usually stay away from the 100+F areas?
Thanks

Hi everyone,
In continuation of research into this species, I have come across some confusing data/anecdote about what a good temperature range for Egyptians are.
So far I have seen a couple of sources (http://www.dwherp.com/egyptian_care.htm, http://home.earthlink.net/~fridjian/id4.html)...

It doesnt look melanistic, the skin would be much darker.
But considering its just the shell that is of a orangy/red/brown colour, could it be iron staining?
actually this brings me to a question I have been having for a while now. Are concentrics a morph of a specific species? can a couple of species produce concentrics? or are they are species all to themselves.
