Basking spot for large turtle tub

Hey again guys! I am almost done setting up the tub, I think you guys will love it! Can't wait to share it with you all. I am still waiting on a few supplies and one of them is a new water heater since my current one broke a few days ago... just as I was about to upgrade the turtles into a...

Basking spot for large turtle tub

I have also considered just getting a huge piece of wood so that they can all bask on it happily. If I were to go the PVC and egg crate route, I wouldn't be sure how big to make the platform so that they can all fit on it properly. Any ideas on how I'd be able to prop the wood so that it would...

Basking spot for large turtle tub

I like this, but I do not have the space for such a large area. I am getting close to buying the stock tank, but I am still not sure what I want to do for the basking. Could I like stack up milk crate and make the basking spot out of that?

Basking spot for large turtle tub

Hello everyone, I plan to move both of my 12 or so inch female red eared sliders (and possibly a third, my 5 or so inch smaller male) into a 150 gallon stock tank. The two girls are currently in a 75 gallon tank and while the size is OK for them, I cannot figure out a way to have them both bask...

How to safely glue something inside turtles aquarium? (basking help)

Thank you everyone for your help! My turtle is finally able to bask inside her tank despite being far too heavy for any of the basking products available to us. I cannot express how happy I am now! Now my only concern is the suction cups that eventually come off overtime. Is there anything I...

How to safely glue something inside turtles aquarium? (basking help)

Hello Tom, I bought this one at a hardware store near my house. I’m waiting for the basking stuff to completely dry before I apply it on, but the instructions on the back say not for aquarium/underwater use. I was recommended a GE silicone 1 so I bought it. Do you think it’s safe to use anyways?

How to safely glue something inside turtles aquarium? (basking help)

Hello again guys, So I've decided to approach this again and was wondering if there was anyway she'd be able to separate the floating log from the basking dock overtime? I will probably get the silicone this week and let you guys know how it goes, thanks.

How to safely glue something inside turtles aquarium? (basking help)

Hey everyone, I have a 75 gallon tank for my red eared slider. I have the largest zoo med turtle dock available for her (19" by 8"), but she's far too heavy and it usually sinks, so she cannot bask properly. I came up with a solution that works to an extent - I also have a really big floating...

Sulcata temperatures; what can they tolerate?

Whoops, I see people are still posting on this outdated thread! :D Unfortunately, I did indeed end up getting the tortoise with everything required to house him comfortably till he got bigger, but he was either ill when I got him (didn't show any signs, the breeder and I were very confused as...

    Unexpected surprise...

I took out my filter almost a year ago to see if it was what was causing Herbie to not eat and what do you know, as soon as I remove it, Herbie starts eating! Since then I've just stuck with cleaning out the entire aquarium every week or so and so far everything's been good. I will look out for...

    Unexpected surprise...

Hey everyone! It's been a long time since I've been here. Here are both of my RES, Herbie (lighter shell) and Pumpkin, 10 months after I first got them. As you can see, they've about tripled in size since I've got them. I've started to feed them adult reptomin recently which makes their...

    Sulcata Hatchling Problem

Can you get us a few pictures? Doesn't sound too good to me. Mine showed similar signs minus the soft shell and ended up passing away a month ago. Hopefully you can save yours so you don't have to go through the heartbreak that I had to.

What's wrong with Alfie? Please help me....

Thank you for the kind words, really makes me feel better. Why are hatchlings so hard to care for? I even made sure to go to a good breeder in hopes of getting something that'll thrive, not die at 4 months old... 2 months of me owning it. I've always been fascinated with turtles and tortoises as...

What's wrong with Alfie? Please help me....

I recommend taking it to a vet just to make sure nothing is wrong with it. I wish I would have with Alfie before it was too late.

What's wrong with Alfie? Please help me....

He was kept warm enough and yes I know adult sulcatas need more space; we're moving into a house in a couple of months and he would've had the freedom to do anything he wanted out there in the spring and summer. I don't know if I'll get a sulcata until a couple of years go by, but does anyone...
