Right on, glad to have some back up that I'm doing good by him, I have been researching and studyingand soaking up everything I can here to make sure I'm being a good tortoise mum! :tort:;)
Right?? There is not a bit of anything in that particular sample to indicate that it is indeed, a poo. I am quite happy with the fact that they aren't smelly and loose and/or watery, because he's starting to leave more and more of these little packages about, and I don't necessarily get them...
I find it interesting that it just looks like a wad of grass, makes me wonder if any nutrients are being absorbed if it comes out practically intact? The succulents and weeds and such aren't identifiable in his droppings, so that's good I suppose.
That's generally what they look like every day, and he usually poops twice. His urine usually is clear and has soft white globs, but I understand that's normal?

Hoffy has been eating only grass, succulents, and other backyard goodies for quite awhile now, and I know others are proud of their tortoise poops, so I wanted to see if I had good ones too!:p:p

Oh, and they weren't seeds from a Chia Pet kit, who knows what they might be treated with, they were from a seed package at the garden shop, next to the lettuce varieties.
Yes, avoiding pet store stuff as much as possible, thanks for that reminder of sorts.
I have a question I bet you'll definitely have a correct answer for....chia seeds. You know, the kind that grow on chia pets? I gave him a pinch of the newly sprouted seedlings just now and he liked them but I...
I know I was just bragging about him eating everything from the garden now, but it's going to be hot soon and some of his fave foods will not be growing in this heat. His cactus and grass will be around still, mabe that's enough?
So researching the Timothy hay, or the hay the sell at pet stores...
Just took these three shots. I get a decent haul each year, but the majority of them shrivel up before I can eat them. BUT...now that little Hoffy enjoys the leaves for a treat every once in awhile, that's why I care about them more than anything now. That, and the shade they provide. In another...
