That's so cool that they're growing again! I'll buy a few of them when I have to leave the tortoise alone for a couple days. They seem to last a bit longer.

Those will be super cold hardy too. Mine can survive a few off season snow storms.

Best thing to do is get shade grass and grow near a window outside of the enclosure. I've done it many times.

If my tortoise gave a big physical reaction to something I was doing, I would stop doing it. When my tortoise seems to like what I'm doing like head, neck, and chin scratches she'll hold still and lean into it. She occasionally will even close her eyes and rest while I do it.
