Hi. We are in the UK. It’s a beautiful college called Kirkley Hall and it has its own zoo. The course is animal management and care. He has had a fantastic time there and has made some wonderful friends, both animal and human! Picture is Henrietta who hates everyone except my boy lol.
Thank you all very much for your advice. My son has autism and has struggled his entire life in school, but he has really blossomed on this animal care college course - even befriending a parrot that will bite anyone else who tries to approach her!
Hi, don’t know where to post this but I really hope someone can help. My son has a test at college today, he has to feed a pancake tortoise while being assessed. He knows what to feed, but we can’t find anything on how much to feed. Can anyone help? Thank you
Thanks Yvonne and moozillion, ive put a lip over the inside edges so she can reach up but not over. Also moved some of the soil away from the edges so it's not so deep, therefore she isn't as high up
Thanks. Sound like this is going to be the only option. Can't go outwards so will have to go upwards. I was so hoping to get her outside but the weather is just so darn grotty here, always freezing cold and raining. And even when it's dry it's cloudy :(
Thanks tortdad. My assignment for the easter break now is making her sides higher. And while im in the planning stages all that's running through my mind is the great escape theme tune lol
The table is huge compared to how it used to be. The photo doesn't do it justice. Just not high enough. If the darn weather would improve I could get her outside but as it is we are forecast snow for easter looks like I am spending easter making her sides a whole lot higher!
Having failed in her quest to knock down the sides, Belle is trying the up and over approach to escape. Some emergency modifications are much needed I think. I don't know what's got into her of late. Shes turned so grumpy and aggressive :(
Looks like we are in for another batch of eggs. Belle is displaying the same symptoms as the last time she laid, only then i didn't realise what was wrong.
If she does lay, should i incubate or can I safely presume they are going to be infertile as the last lot were? Will she continue to lay...
She's about 5-6 years old. She wasn't this bad last time she laid eggs. She is actually charging up to the table boundaries whenever she senses me or my kids near. She's truly been on the rampage today, ive never seen her like this before. She's normally so docile and loves a chin rub, Id lose a...
Could anyone please tell me why my Hermanns has started banging repeatedly into the wall of her enclosure? Shes demolished her plants, both real and fake today, trampled her food instead of eating it and now she is just rocking back and forth repeatedly butting the side of the enclosure. Im very...
This site has helped me huge amounts too. Everyone here has been fantastic to me. Your little ones will do just great with you for their mammy because you clearly care deeply and what you don't know you ask and want to learn. I think that's wonderful :)
There has to be two new additions called Thor and Loki just to complete the set lol. Great pics, Odin is certainly enjoying a feast fit for a god lol ;)
So ive just given belle her dinner, she came charging over like a bull at a red flag and promptly peed and pooped all over it. She's never ever done this before. Is this normal, do other owners torts do this, or is it her way of telling me what she thought of her food? She actually seemed quite...
Thanks wellington. I just noticed it tonight when I was giving her a bath and I wasn't sure if it was just bad lighting or me being a fuss pot so im glad you can see it too! She seems to be perfectly fine in every other way, hopefully the people you suggested will see this and be able to advise...
