I was just going to make a post about these bugs! Mine have unfortunately bred like crazy... They don't seem to be bugging the torts but I'm worried about it none the less. Is there a way to get rise of them? If I have to remove all of the bedding will the darn things just come back??
Well I had a great birthday surprise from my family. I just wanted to show off my two new little Leo's! Both have some interesting colors. The first guy here is very brown, almost a chocolate color. The breeder said she has never seen one with so much dark coloration not to mention this brown...
She is really lovely! I always enjoy seeing pics and now video of her. I am sure the information is somewhere, but I will ask anyhow, is she a gpp? Is that in part why she is growing so rapidly? That and her wonderful care of course. :0)
I certainly have outside room for three. Before I lost Jesse, I was thinking 4 was even fine. Not worried there really. Just, obviously, one indoor would be easier. :0)
So I started seeing some possible bullying between my two Leo babies, AND I WAS PREPARED, and have them separated. Their still tiny, the older, bigger one about 18 weeks and the smaller one a month younger. I knew this was likely to happen, but hoped I had more time and would be able to put them...
No, the gate wasn't locked. Kicking myself for that one. :/ still no sign of her. We've asked everyone we know to keep an eye out and I still do a sweep in the enclosure for her once a day. Am still watching craigslist and have contacted vets and pet shops.
It is amazing how different growth rates can be. Mine are at weird stages too, one not growing hardly at all and the other with new white spots daily it seems. They are almost a month apart and at only 3 and 2 months that makes a difference too but still! I love beans! I hope I get a high white...
Thanks all for the encouragement. I scoured her enclosure again last night, even looked thoroughly (again) through the larger yard that hers is fenced from. Tom Here are some enclosure pics, as requested.
The yard is just to the right of our front door. From the road you can not really see...
Momof4 A few neighbors knew about him, we have asked them and are good enough friends (and at their house often enough) that I can't imagine it was them. No other 'service guys' come around. BUT the way the tort yard is someone who walked over to our front door could have looked inside and be...
We don't have very big Hawks here but the crows are bigger. Still even a 2 lb tort I would think would be hard to hold onto. I had a hard time holding her and I have thumbs. But who knows... Again with the what if
With a heavy heart I write this, my poor Jesse was taken from our yard. Earlier this week we had a nice warm day finally and I put Jesse out in her new yard my husband built for her this winter. It was a bricked section of yard 8 ft tall (to match the other section of yard that keeps the boxer...
Thank you. Yes maybe putting a second UVB on the other end might be a good thing. The enclosure is long and maybe their not getting enough. Anyone for these beauties!!!! :0)
I noticed it right after a soak, so maybe that 'pushed it out'
I soak daily for 30 minutes, but I guess back to morning soaks also. Poor babes :/
I think too with this larger enclosure they don't go to the water dish as often as when it was smaller. To them that must be a long walk or...
