    Weight loss after deworming

Hiya all, My adult female “Golden” Greek had worms (I saw roundworms and fecal at the vet showed rounds, I think hooks, and giardia). Vet prescribed panacur - granules, 4 doses to be given 2 weeks apart. She’s due for dose number 3 this weekend. Before dewormer, she weighed 890 grams, now she’s...

    Leo Died

So sorry for your loss. We lost our first tortoise, a baby Hermanns. We were so upset, we didn’t think we’d ever get another. But then several months later, I started maybe contemplating it and literally the next day, someone posted in one of my local Facebook groups about an adult Golden Greek...

Where can you buy dandelion greens?

Locally I can find them at Whole Foods and also a small health food store that has a produce section.

    T. G. Terrestris URI?

I need advice on whether and when to take her to the vet. She just this morning blew one snot bubble when I walked in to feed her. She has a water saucer and access to some chopped hay mixed with dried herbs, so I don’t think she had eaten or been in her water before I went in but I can’t be...

    Greek Tortoise Substrate

I have a Golden Greek too - I decided on coco coir in most of her table, with fine reptibark at one end just for something different for her to walk on. I was advised by a very reputable breeder that Mesopotamian Greeks have much drier humidity requirements than most Mediterranean torts, and I’m...

    Uv question

Thanks Tom! So if I were to set her up like you prefer, I will still need another tube fixture. What length uv fixture would you use on a 6' table? Would a 22" mounted at the basking end sufficient? I have her basking lamp at one end and her CHE (on a thermostat, my house gets down to the...

    Uv question

Ugh, I'm going crazy. I have a Greek (newly rescued) in an indoor tort table - nearly 3'x6' (with a new larger table when I can find something bigger to repurpose or find the supplies to build). She'll likely spend several of our wet/cold/rainy months inside every winter and even a good portion...

    Subspecies?

You guys are killin me. I had to give up coffee and matcha a few months ago - can't tolerate the acid. :( Thanks for the input - my friend is a vet tech at a clinic that sees exotics and she's going to help me trim her beak! :)

    Subspecies?

Mesopotamian? She's at least 3 or 4, old enough to have laid eggs at least once. 840 grams and 16.2 straight carapace length. If anyone has ideas as to what's going on with her eyes, I'd love to hear them! Here is a link to the health thread I posted...

    Assessing my new girl

I have original mazuri. I keep putting it in front of her, soaked for just a minute, but she's not having it. The old owner handed me about 3 bottles of assorted (I think zoo med) varieties that she wouldn't eat there either. One bottle has dried flowers in it, and she did say that she seemed to...

    Assessing my new girl

Oh! And are her nails too long?

    Assessing my new girl

Hello! This is Penelope, our new "Golden Greek" - I'm going to post her pic in the Greek threads too, to see if I can find out what subspecies she might actually be. I suspect she's a Mesopotamian Greek... Anyway! Age is uncertain, but she's old enough to have laid eggs at least once. We're at...

Hoping some of these are tort safe!

Thanks! Yes, the dandelions are strong here - they're all over! Not complaining because they're an easy tort food!

Hoping some of these are tort safe!

Thank you! Yes, the back yard has been recently mown... I might dig that guy up and move it until I can tell what it is... it seems to be only one of its kind out there. I'll read that thread, thank you!

Hoping some of these are tort safe!

Here's another pic of #5 - it's still a small plant but I'm pretty sure I've seen it larger in other parts of my yard in the past...

Hoping some of these are tort safe!

So I went in to my local beloved garden store (and accidentally came home with lavatera and pansies for her... hah!) for some identification help. Still not sure what #1 is... # 2 dead nettle? Waiting for it to mature a bit # 3 likely purslane but the plant is tiny so I'm also waiting for...

Hoping some of these are tort safe!

(I'll apologize ahead of time - for some reason I can't see many of the pics in the thread with pics of toxic and edible things... I get some kind of photo bucket error message. I'm on my phone at the moment - I'll try later on the desktop.) Anyway! I've been tromping around my yard looking for...

    Reintroducing myself!

Thanks! Yes, I plan on changing that - but she's pretty stressed and hiding a lot, so one thing at a time. First thing I did was throw away the coil style uv bulb and replace it with my HO 10.0. Then got her to eat mixed greens and some weeds (she was eating primarily carrots and kale, gah!)...

    Reintroducing myself!

Hiya all! We live in Western Washington and I first joined a couple of years ago when we got our hatchling Dalmatian tortoise - we loved him so much! Sadly, he passed away suddenly earlier this year. We were heartbroken. Just recently, we had been thinking about adding another tort to the...
