Working on creating a basking spot for my two RES.
I have a pond...that is indoors, much to cold outside in MI (currently 12 without the wind), I am attempting to use a piece of plexiglas. I shall see if it holds the weight of my female RES.
My RES female is 2 1/2 years old is about a foot...
I have two RES and the main filter in my tank just stopped working. I was wondering if anyone has a filter that they would recommend. I have my RES in a 32 gallon tote with about 15 gallons of water.
I filter that just broke (after 3 months) is Zoo Med 501 the outside the tank filter.
Any...
The poor thing.... good thing you rescued it!
My vet suggested feeding mine earthworms, feederfish (goldfish), berries (mine loves strawberries and blueberries).
I would say sulcata. I just got a sulcata hatchling two months ago and love it. My fiance and I discussed getting a tortoise and a large one before I got the sulcata. We both like the idea of having a large tortoise, which a lot of our family and friends don't understand.
RE: How To Raise Sulcata Hatchlings and Babies.
How often do you recommend feeding a hatchling spring mix? and how much?
Thank you for such a wonderful post it is very helpful to all of us that are new to sulcatas.:D
My RES had those too. If you can post a pic I would like you know for sure if it is what mine had.
I took mine to the vet and they said to use iodine and a brush. You mix the iodine with water, so that it looks like tea (color) and then brush it onto the RES's shell. It then starts peeling off.
I have not heard of having a permit to keep a turtle or a tort.
Are there specific species that need permits? or does it just depend on the state?
Just curious:cool:
:D Here are pictures of Sig and Twig my RES. Sig is a 2 year old male and is the smaller one in the pictures. Twig is a 2 year old female and is the larger one. She loves fish, where as Sig will not eat them!
