I was wondering if Autumn Olive flowers and leaves are safe for Russian Tortoises to eat? I cant find any information about it? Any help is greatly appreciated!
She doesnt get any sun [yet] because I live in Michigan. I do have plans for her outdoor summer enclosure this year. Temps are starting to average 60* now. How much new growth can you expect during her "growth spurt"? Im sure that also has factors to weigh in too [how much she eats, her...
I was wondering if anyone can post a picture of their tortoise's new growth ring on its shell? I am wondering if this looks normal on my tortoise Weiand. I noticed it a couple of weeks ago (the light tan line was a lot smaller then). She also started shedding last week. Is there anything...
I was just sitting here planning/daydreaming of my outside enclosure for my Russian Tortoise, Weian. Since I live in SE Michigan, and we get some pretty doozy thunderstorms, I was wondering if they effect the toroises in any way? Is there anyway to make them more "comfortable" during them or...
Thank you all for the info and link! I was just concerned about one of her back nails that it's getting long enough to have a slight "curl" to it! Now I know I can trim them. Thank you again for everyone's help I have received so far on joining this forum! :p
I have been looking for a post on this topic, but cannot seem to find one (or I'm looking in the wrong spot). Are you suppose to trim your tortoises nails? Any info would be of great help! Thanks!
Its a sweltering 37* today! Suppose to get up into the lower 40's next week (bye-bye snow)! Seriously, you guys dont have to change your clocks ahead tonight?
Im sorry to say, Flint has really gone down hill! Especially when GM closed plants and Buick City has been leveled to the ground several years ago. Most jobs are pretty much "retail", and you really cant support a family too well doing that. It's just all sad now a days!
I thought I was doing a good thing by letting her out to get some "exercise" because I know shes in a smaller enclosure. When I was doing it, I never let her out of my sight. :(
I will be a few months until I can do that. What are the minimum outside temps that I would be able to do this? It usually starts getting warm in May. I will look into getting a bigger enclosure for her. I do let her run around my livingroom for awhile every day.
I got her from a pet store where I buy my other pet supplies at. It always seems like no matter what time I went in there, she was in the same spot hiding. Now I would say she spends a good 3/4 of the time out of "shelter".
I had it on a plastic lid of a bowl, but she kept getting substrate all over it. That is why I switched to that bowl. Now that I have learned to keep her substrate moist, Im sure that will help greatly with it being scattered on her food. Thank you for your help!
Thank you for the warm welcome! She has a bowl of water in with her. The temp under her basking spot is 98*. I also have a light strip with a Tropical 25 UVB -T8 bulb in it.
Thank you for the info about wetting her substrate down because of what I read on other sites said not to. I have...
Hello! My name is Tricia and I have a Russian Tortoise named Weiand (my fellow gear-heads should understand the name). I got her 2 weeks ago from a pet store. I felt really bad for her in the way she was being kept every time I went into the store. I am very happy to say that she is now very...
