Wow. $200 is kinda high isn't it? I think we sold them for $75-100 when we could get them. The sulcata went for $250 because we nursed him back to health and left him run the place too and at 10" I don't think it was a bad deal. Especially when they get larger than a bushel basket.
When we get tortoises we like to get sulcatas. But then again Indiana really isn't the place for such a large tortoise. Or last one went to a lady with a heated barn and he just runs the place. We thought he was a girl when we sold him but about a month or so ago he decided to show his mommy...
Private owned pet shop in search of young but not a baby, Russian Tortoise for customer who has been trying to order for several months now. If anyone could help me out I would greatly appreciate it. Our suppliers said it is the wrong time of year and even if they do send the turtles and...
Does the baby have a hinged plastron? So when it pulls its head and arms and legs in the shell seals up tight. if so, then it is an eastern box turtle. looking at the picture and the shape of the sides where the carapace meets the plastron, it's really hard to tell, but the back feet look more...
We don't plan on selling them. just got them away from a flood prone creek.

and yes I do stand corrected. you can possess them, just not sell them from a business. although that part does get a bit touchy. even...
Sorry I haven't replied sooner, I wanted to tell you thank you and that I haven't blown you off. I will make sure the temp and humidity stay in the upper ranges you have stated. one more question... How many days? like I said I am used to bearded dragons, pythons, corn snakes and birds.
I agree with Maggie. My pets are my babies and they go where I go. I honestly have no idea what all of you are talking about when you say you must leave your tortoise behind if you must move out of state. That in itself should be a felony, when tortoises are shipped all over this country.
Some...
Earlier this week at work, my boss had been out back clearing away some weeds and discovered a female wood turtle digging a nest close to the creek that flows behind the shop. Since the creek has a nasty habit of flooding, my boss waited until mommy had lain her eggs and moved away, and then...
Tree frogs are excellent because they will stay up on the sides or up in the greenery. House Geckos are nocturnal and would be my lizard of choice. just my two cents...
I actually have one of those tetra waterfall looking corner filters in with my girls, and then use a syphon hose to empty the water out, then when it's nice outside, carry the tank out and hose it out and wipe it out with a scrunchy sponge. Otherwise prop it up at an angle and wash and rinse it...
I've never had a problem with it. Ruby's skin on her head is dry and cracked almost to the point of bleeding. she loves when I rub this on and it brings out her colors. (remember I've only had her a month now) I've used it on my red eared sliders as well. Plus it gives the added benefit of...
So can cats and dogs but we still keep them together.
As long as the tort doesn't try to eat the chameleon they will be perfectly fine. House Geckos are also a good choice. I don't see a problem with tree frogs either. I don't see anyone separating them in the wild....
Baytril is fantastic for reptiles. the 22.7 mg is how much of the antibiotic is in each ml, not neccessarily each injection. it's administered by weight. I once treated a ball python for pneumonia, and at 22.7mg per ml, the dose for the snake was only .2 ml (.2cc) with her only being 2 pounds...
So what do you folks do when your specific tortoise is required to get it's monthly animal protien fix as is required of Redfoot tortoises? I sprinkle a few canned mealworms or crickets on Ruby's food, but sooner or later I'm going to have to cave and offer her a pinky mouse like I was...
