Of course!
and because he has no valid papers, he tries to declare them as "own offsprings"
That will not function in our german System!
meanwhile the governmenr officelas are very sensitive and good trained in this cases!
Wen we declare an offspring of an "only" WA 2 Species in Germany (like Aldabas) to our local government institutions, we have to declare and proove the origin of the 2 parent animals and there legally Import. If there is any doubt the goverment officials may advice a genetic test. On your own...
the animal is declared as DNZ , German breed animal!
That is illegal, no succesfull breeding is documented in Germany so far.
Any goverment authorithy could easily decline the legallicy of a such declared animal !!
#Aldabraman
normally our eggs weigt at about 80 grams.
Now we got a clutch of 30 eggs (!) from a new female and the eggs are very tiny, half the seize than used to, weighting 45-62 grams.
How about your eggs, had you ever had so small eggs and can they develop normally?
We are not conserned about goiter ore something else.
We just think that the sufficiant jodine uptake is important for overall health conditions.
And maybe for the breeding success?
They dont have to look for calcium.
Aldabra Atoll IS 100% calcium (raised limestone atoll).
They will uptake calcium with everything they eat or drink.
We never saw them feed on fish, but i could imagine they will take it when they find some and are hungry.
We tried it at here home- no Chance!!
While our visits on Aldabra Island 2015 and 2018 we always observed aldabra tortoises "grazing" at the seashore and feeding on brown algae. They are known to contain a rich ammount of salts and jodine. Any jodine uptake will surely not be with sea water as asserted.
Since this observations...
When you manage to keep this conditions with very high humidity for the first years, this so far perfectly grown babies will continue to grow perfectly smooth. Most important is the humid start in life, later years are not so important.
Congratulations!!
We noticed several semi-wild animals with this kind of handicap on several different Islands. All we saw could deal quite good with this handicap and seem to be well integrated into the Group. And obviously they live Long with this "amputation".
Here a few pics of the Little Moyenne Island, located in the inner Seychelles:
Instead it is not a pristine island, today it is part of the Seychelles National Park
