Thank you!! Everything I read just kept saying dandelions pretty much. He finally started eating today which is good and we are going to get a new heat bulb since the one we got isn't getting hot enough.

We read that Russian tortoise like dandelions and roses and I know you have to make sure there are no pesticides... But are there any other flowers and weeds that we can feed him???

He is indoors.. And not not really bc we have dogs that go out side we worry about them with royal

He os inside.. Under the heat lamp it is from 79-85 and normal light is 70-75.

We feed him spring mix with a supplement and the temps under the heat lamp are about 79-85 degrees and not under the heat lamp is about 75.... As far as the lights go they are zoo med the heat lamp is 75 watts. This is kind of a bad pic bc it makes the enclosure look small but it isn't...

He is only about 5 inches right now and we are from Arkansas. So if we keep him warm he won't have to???

We are new Russian tortoise owners and we were reading something that said for at least 8 weeks a year you put your tortoise into hibernation??? Basically that you keep the body temp to 40-45 degrees... Is this true??? If so when do you do this?? And why??? Thanks in advance

Only for a few days. He seems to be liking his habitat and isn't shy when we hold him he just hasn't been eating well

We just got our tortoise Royal.... He hasn't been eating... Is this normal for him adapting to his new environment???

We read somewhere that a tortoise will always search for his original home??? Is this true we were wondering if that is why he keeps trying to climb out???
