    Trogdor the Burninator is here!

I haven't frequented the forum much lately, but Troggy is getting big and I'm about 85% certain now that he's male. He's got the right shaped ventral scutes and he's starting to look a bit concave. He's about 18 months old and around 2# at this point, so it might be too early to guess. I'll try...

Definitely hating on me for this, but not totally flipping out.

    Small white patch

As the owner of a tort who is growing way faster than expected, I intuitively started doing this in the last few months. My 13 month old redfoot is 584g, which is way larger than what ive seen other people post for redfoot of that age. He's also getting some minor pyramiding despite fairly...

    Trogdor the Burninator is here!

Weeds (testudo mix, dandelion, grasses, clover), fruits, grocery store greens, some hard boiled egg, but aside from the protein, all minced and mixed with mazuri or he'd totally ignore it. In the last few months I've stopped that and if he doesn't eat his veggies or fruit, he just doesn't eat...

    Trogdor the Burninator is here!

I got him in August, and he was 72g and 7.5cm long then. He's gained roughly 80g per month since then, and grown lengthwise in fits and starts. He started getting weird about his soaks in December or January, and I stopped them until this week, but kept his humidity as high as I could, adding...

    Trogdor the Burninator is here!

I've been leaning towards female as well, but I think it's probably too soon to say for sure. I don't really care one way or the other.

    Trogdor the Burninator is here!

Here's a shot from above. I think he's still too young to sex, but I'd love to hear any opinions.

    Trogdor the Burninator is here!

I noticed that too! Most of the other photos I've seen of redfoot carapaces have had a lot more dark coloring. He's just a special snowflake?

    Trogdor the Burninator is here!

Daily, sometimes twice daily. Then we had a week or so of thrashing and trying to climb out, which made me worry he was getting too stressed. Here you can see his pyramiding a bit better.

    Trogdor the Burninator is here!

Troggy is 13 months old, 584g, and just bit over 15cm long. He's a little lumpier than I'd hoped, though his humidity is between 70 and 80 to 85%. I have to add about a gallon of water to his substrate once to twice daily to maintain that. He went on a soak strike for a while, thrashing and...

Vern the Redfoot - Photo Thread

Man, I really love that face. I want to steal your humpy, grunty, grumpy-faced tort!

    It's a coming.

I love that nose stripe! That's one cute little tort!

    Bubbles Galore

I've been off the forums a few months and came back to this. RIP Bubbles. I'm so happy you gave her such a fantastic last year. She was a lucky tort.

Sorry, for some reason I'm unable to edit my post to remove those duplicate photos.

    Trogdor the Burninator is here!

I've been remiss in posting, as other aspects of my life have been in shambles. Trogdor is doing ok, though. He started FREAKING out (thrashing, trying to climb out, and generally acting like I was trying to kill him) about bathing, so I stopped for a while, but now he's looking a bit pyramided...

    Trogdor the Burninator is here!

I've had a bit of an overwhelming few weeks (change is afoot in my life) and have been remiss in weekly measurements, but Troggy was 365g and 13cm last night. No photos, though I plan to get some new ones up soon. Enclosure overhaul is coming tomorrow too... I think his dogs are too bright for...

Did someone say REGULAR Redfoot from Brazil?....

Cute little bugger--he looks like he's a bit heavy-handed with the eye makeup!

Did someone say REGULAR Redfoot from Brazil?....

Thanks for the response! I'd guessed Venezuela as a possibility from an old post about types, but the Guyana possibility is new to me. Cue endless image searching for redfoot + Guyana. His head colors are sort of a dark orange/salmon in natural light. He's a pretty nice looking tort (IMO).

    What are you reading??

I'm currently reading "The Tin Drum," a novel set in Poland during WWII featuring a very unreliable and unconventional narrator. I'm also re-reading "Intruder in the Dust" and just picked up "The Character of Rain," which I'd never heard of but was recommended by a friend. I've never read...

    Getting ready for the snow

In Philly waiting for it to start. I think we are expecting about 18 inches.
