    Growing plants for Redfoot

This is one of the mixes that I grow. I grow a couple different ones to mix things up but my RFs seem to like this one. To be fair though, my guys are not picky eaters, if it is on their plate, they eat it haha. They only take about 2 or 3 weeks to grow before i start clipping them. They...

    Growing plants for Redfoot

Plants dont need UVB bulbs in order to grow. I just use T5 florescence and LED bulbs and plant underneath my RF enclousre during the winter months. I struggle with the gnats though if the planters get too moist so I have to keep them in a different room. I also grow some of the broad leaf weed...

ENDANGERED SILVER BACK KILLED, WHO'S AT FAULT

From what I remember reading the zoo not only met the safety requirements but exceeded them for the gorilla enclosure in their last inspection. Could a zoo make everything 100% safe, mostly likely, but i am sure it would make it less enjoyable. I personally hate looking through netting or...

    Anybody seen these???...

Man, I can't wait to get a concentric terrapin, they are just fantastic looking i think. Just have to wait till I have a large enough setup that I can dedicate to them. How many hatchlings do you normally get a year @Redfoot NERD ?

I hope they post as many pictures of them as you did, they are great looking torts! They actually have made my wife decide she wants an ivory sulcata when we move.

    Redfoots addicted to Mazuri :(

I never give my RFs straight mazuri, i have a slap chopper that I chop up mushrooms, dried cactus, dried weeds and then mix in mazrui. I give them this twice a week and they used to pick things out but over time they got used to everything i put in it and don't pick anything out anymore. Chop...

Do your torts like tomatoes? I thought about giving them some every now and again as we grow some inside during the winter.

    Pretend Chat 2.14

Sad that it died. I wonder what they do with the body. They said they will drag the body to shore and guard it overnight. I would guess they would try to figure why it ended up being beached.

    Trogdor the Burninator is here!

I really like both of those enclosures. I actually plan on replace my sliding doors with ones that open up like yours. The plexi glass started to warp and i even got 1/4 inch sheets so I am a bit surprised them are warping, oh well. Gus and Loki are 10 days under 7 months old so a little bit...

8 New Babies from TOM! AKA The Bond Girls (maybe)

I like the idea of simulating a burrow. Are they super active when you have them outside or do they still hide just as much?

8 New Babies from TOM! AKA The Bond Girls (maybe)

Wow @DeanS , those shells truly do look perfect. I don't have a sulcata so this is just from what I have seen on the forum but these look a bit more domed then a lot of other baby sulcatas. is it just me? Also, how long are you going to simulate them living in a "burrow"?

8 New Babies from TOM! AKA The Bond Girls (maybe)

How do the shells look on your babies in comparison to Tom's group? Yours look like they have perfect shells from the pictures but I would like to still ask. It is shocking how much heavier your babies are as well compared to Toms.

Rescued a Sulcata Tortoise, any tips?

At that size you could still soak him every day. If it were me, I would soak him every day for the next week at least and then do it every other day. To be fair though, I do not have a sulcata, Tom or DeanS will let you know what is best. If you do end up keeping him, he will need a lager...

Rescued a Sulcata Tortoise, any tips?

If you haven't already you should give them a good warm soak to heat them up and rehydrate them some after getting so cold outside. Just make sure they don't get cold afterwards while they are still wet. The warm soak will also help them poo some if they need to. It is truly great that that...

    Trogdor the Burninator is here!

I feel like i saw troggy's new pad but I don't see it here, did I see it in the enclosure section? if not you need to show it! How old is Troggy by the way? If I remember he is the same age as Bascha, then Gus Gus and Loki are a month or so younger. Gus Gus was 164 grams today after a big...
