    Applying lamisil on my sully

Hi All, Unfortunately Nicco has developed shell rot. His routine has been the same since I got him last year. He's in an enclosure with 4 temp zones, he gets to graze outside daily, he's on a grass diet + mazuri on the side, he gets reptile vitamins and calcium supplements, he gets soaked 30...

    EXO Terra BAsking lamp replacement

Hi all, I've replaced my Exo Terra 100 W basking lamp (non UV) twice in the past 6 months. I was wondering if I can use a 50W Halogen Lamp in its place? I'll be measuring the temp using an IR gun. My only concern here is if it might have the same effect as a coiled lamp (blindness/burns)...

    # of hatchlings per enclosure

Hi all, How many hatchlings can I put in one enclosure? A 5x2 with temp gradients of course. I'm thinking of getting another batch of Sullies :) Also I have one 4 month old in a 5x2, can I add more with him? (I know just two would be bad, so I'd have to add at least two.) Cheers

Sulcata hatchling sleeping in water bowl

As the title states I saw my 4 month old hatchling sleeping in his water bowl tonight. Is this normal? Should I put him back in his humid hide?

Zilla 500 watt temperature controller question

My temps are as follows. basking 37-38 deg C warm 29-30 deg C cool 27-28 deg C The instructions say I should put the probe in the basking spot, shouldn't it be in the warm area? That's where my 4 month old hatchling's humid hide is. He also has one on the cool spot but he uses this one to...

    Undigested grass

Saw this coming out of Nicco's bum 2 hours prior to taking this photo. It was still stuck there 2 hours later. So I tried tugging on it after I took this shot, came out easily. Is this normal? Should I have just let it be?

    Sulcata and Leopard similarities

Just curious, do leopards and sulcatas thrive under the same conditions? I ask because it looks that way on @Tom 's care sheet. I've been asking around tortoise keepers here and it seems a lot of them have high hatchling fail rates for leopards.

Advice on transitioning a 3 month old sulcata to grass.

Hi TF, I was wondering if I could get some advice on improving my 3 month old's diet. I opened another thread on supplementation and I'm following through on Yvonne's advice. I currently have Repti Calcium w/ D3 and I'm going to buy Miner-All for outdoor (figured I wouldn't need the D3). As...

Supplementation for 3 month old hatchling

Hi all! I've read Tom's care sheet regarding supplementation, just have a few more questions. Calcium: I currently have Zoo Med Repti Calcium w/ D3, is this given 3 times a week? Minerals: I tried looking for the recommended MinerAl brand but I can't seem to find it. Vitamins: Which would...

    Nicco (tentative name) is home!

I had everything bought before today and setup when I brought him/her home. Temp is constant in the enclosure at 28.5 deg C (without the CHE on), humidity is at 75-80%, it's 35 deg C under the basking lamp. His carapace is not that smooth, but I'm hoping with some TLC he'll get there.

    Hatchling sulcata feeding

I've read through a lot of articles, including the stickies. I think I have a pretty good idea on what to feed. How often do I feed my incoming hatchling and how much?

Preparing for a sulcata hatchling (Philippines)

Hi all! As the title states I'm about to setup my first enclosure for a sulcata hatchling. I've read Tom's posts http://www.tortoiseforum.org/threads/how-to-raise-a-healthy-sulcata-or-leopard-version-2-0.79895/ http://www.tortoiseforum.org/threads/closed-chambers.32333/ and I was thinking of...
