Fair enough. I heard from hermanni Chris that a 2:3 ratio works, which I may do if my 1:2 ratio doesn't work. I'm going to give them outdoor space, but I'm in Canada. However, I am building a large enough enclosure that I can separate them if needed.
Thank you :) everyone here knows quite a...
I'm planning to get 3 Hermanns tortoises, and like every site I go on tells me to feed them organic plants, but I can't find many organic seeds. If I buy non GMO seeds, and grow them in organic coconut, will that be as good? Or is it very important I find organic? Thanks :)
I agree completely, and I love how experienced many people here are. Sadly, my parents can't. They don't understand most of this stuff. XD thanks :)
That makes sense :) I might feed a bit of pepper, but I won't plant either in their enclosure. Thanks :)
Thanks for your reply :) if they did turn it to be a different ratio, I could insert pieces of 4 by 8s ( I'm making my enclosure out of them ) and make 3 connected individual enclosures.
Hi :) I'm planning on buying three hatchling Hermanns, one male two female, but I'm wondering how much space they will need as adults. I've heard for one it should be 3 ft by 1.5 ft minimum, but figured going here first would be a good idea :)
True :) you're right XD I tend to get caught up in thinking ahead. Ultimately, the people I'm ordering from are the more expensive ones, because their animals look so healthy and happy in the pictures, and they are quick to answer any questions i have :)
Ok... Makes sense. I have only found two Canadian breeders. One is 450+ shopping, one is 400, and 325 for each after + shipping. Would it be rude to do like 350 or 300$? Not to undercut, just so I can be more picky selling, so I know they find good homes. And only like Max 15 a year kinda thing...
That makes sense :) worst case scenario I split up the enclosure later.
Thanks :) this forum is really nice, and you guys know so much about proper care.
Also, is it rude to buy torts from a breeder and sell babies? Not on a huge scale, but still. All the breeders in my area charge $450, plus...
Hi :) I plan to buy two female and one male Eastern Hermann, and hope to breed them down the road. However, I have heard that after a few years of breeding, if there is no competition, males can become disinterested. Would housing each Tortoise separately, but having the dividing wall slide out...
Thanks so much guys :) I think I'm going to get 1 male 2 female, but I'm going to see what I can find. Luckily my house is laid out so I have the upstairs as a bedroom, and the dog and cats are downstairs.
